The complicating factor is that no matter how many players the Cowboys put on short-term IR, they can only bring back 2 of them in the season.

Couldn't they add Rush to PS since he doesn't have to go through waivers then move him to 53 next week while moving someone from the current 53 to PS. Rosters will be more set in stone and since poaching requires you to add to your current 53 it would make it safer to protect that particular player.

Ridgeway and dennis dennis houston will be the other 2. if they bring in an OT off waivers Im not sure who the other will be. Maybe wright?

While I wouldn't call him making the 53-man roster a joke, I do find it odd he beat out a proven vet like Watkins. He showed flashes, but he has to reshape his body, get stronger and improve his technique before he can contribute to the d-line rotation.

Easy call for me, at least one of them will be Ridgeway. I guess the logic here is that you can bring Watkins back later on?

Or, really, from a numerical standpoint, you've got enough guys. I didn't have Watkins on my 53-man roster.

Given that Ridgeway is a developmental player, Cowboys likely attempt to stash him later when teams are less likely to acquire him for their roster.

I gotta say I don't like it, though, if they keep him on the 53 all year. You'd be better off upgrading your backup QB than carrying a dead weight that takes up space but won't play. That's just me. I knew the Cowboys wouldn't cut him, because their egos wouldn't allow them to admit they missed on a pick, which happens to the best of 'em.

They claim Gallup is staying on the roster. In fact his PUP designation could have kept him from not being counted on the 53 right now. So they plan on him returning to play in the next few weeks.

Not sure about Joseph going on IR, though. It's usually about 2 weeks before the average person recovers. But players have to go through a concussion protocol to return.

However, this may be Jerry's way of dealing with Goodall regarding the incident Joseph witnessed.

Jerry Jones said if it was the Super Bowl, he would be playing now. That would seem to indicate that he's capable of playing now, but they are trying to be cautious.
