He almost gave up a TD in man coverage on a pick play that should have been called offensive pi.
On the Rams last TD drive there is a deep out that Cook ran where Wilcox tackled him. It appears that Wilcox might be responsible but you cannot see the coverage downfield to be sure.
For all of that overrun on the first series, the Rams tried to go back to it two other times with that swing pass and Wilcox made excellent openfield tackles. 2:06 of the third and Stacey has flanked the entire defense while Wilcox comes over from his spot deep middle to stop him cold. He does it again 4:44 4th quarter. This time Wilcox is in the intermediate zone and snuffs out the 4 yard throw underneath for no RAC.
What people do not seem to understand on the Claiborne pick, Wilcox flashed underneath the route. Davis had to try and fit the ball and Quick stopped short of the throw. It was great coverage. It's been pointed out how Wilcox saved Mo's biscuit in the second quarter taking over the top when Mo got beaten off the line.
The issue is that Siragusa and Moose kept on talking about how the secondary kept on allowing wide open receivers and then would zoom in on Wilcox. You have to nit pick to find stuff he really did wrong.
I have him down for 4 plays where he could have done better:
The play that he overran by the sideline where Carter missed the tackle.
Another play where he almost made the tackle, but didn't and it resulted in about a 4 yard gain.
The deep out to the TE on the offensive right side.
The pass to the TE in the end-zone that was dropped.
They did call PI on a pick play where it initially appeared that the TE beat him, again near the offensive right sideline.
I initially thought Wilcox was just OK in this game, but now after reviewing him specifically, he was better than I thought.
