I thought I would do a poll to gauge fans' initial reaction to the Dallas Cowboys hiring Mike McCarthy to replace JG.

Well, in looking at the landscape, might have been a good choice. College coaches aren’t going anywhere, all the other coordinations still in the playoffs are unproven as HC, etc.

Guess I had this vision of a staff being really ripped up and planted anew. Defense-wise it’s happening, offense maybe not so much. Maybe Moore will get better under MM.

I thought they moved too fast. Don't know what field of candidates looked like exactly. I hope Jerry and Stephen didn't do this on their own.

Is it confirmed that Moore is staying?

My two concerns are he has been near the bottom of the league in rushing attempts his last few seasons in GB and who is going to run the defense.

It will be interesting to see how he uses Zeke and Pollard. I assume they will be more involved in the passing game.

Somewhere in between. I guess that's because the local media was hammering it into our heads that it would be Meyer, Riley, or Rule and then McCarthy literally comes out of no where and gets the job. If you just look at the facts then he has an impressive resume. So, lets see what happens

As much as one agrees to your point

That hire just spent the last full year prepping for his shot again...... Don't think his presentation wasn't masterful to the Jones Boys

Just need that car slapping salesman meme to complete

Of the realistic options, the only coach I would have preferred was Urban. Bienemy, Riley, Rhule, and the Minnesota OC didn't do it for me.

Will be interesting to see how he does without a HOF qb, possibly the best ever, and without an incredible home field advantage, especially during the playoffs.

I'm somewhere in between here.

I like this move a lot more than retaining Garrett for another year. So in that sense I feel it was a huge upgrade over what we had.

However, I think we rushed it a bit and would have preferred if we looked at more options first.

The only thing I can think is that McCarthy either knocked out his interviews the past two days or Jones already had it in mind of who he was going to hire ahead of time.

Now the real question will be is what defensive staff is he going to bring to Dallas because that's always been one question mark during his time in GB.

IDK if they moved too fast or not. McCarthy was available all season long so the Cowboys could have reached out to him weeks or months ago.

In fact the Cowboys could have had him behind the scenes evaluating the talent on the roster and planning to move forward with him long before the Garrett decision was announced publicly. They make have had McCarthy evaluating game plans etc to see who he would be willing to keep in terms of coaches.

I live in Green Bay so I have lived the GB McCarthy era first hand. I think this is a good hire. His end in GB was a direct result of a drama queen QB turning the locker room against him. Does he have flaws? Sure he does. But the Cowboys needed a guy that has a lot of coaching connections and can basically hit the ground running. We need to win now and not go thru another "learning period" for a HC.

The dude went to 5 NFC Championship games and won 1 Super Bowl.

Give me that, all of that, as opposed to what we've gotten the last 25 years
I agree it would be nice to make it to a few NFCCG. As already posted by others he’s basically Sean Payton who everyone loves. If they keep drafting well he may have a better roster in Dallas.

Meh for me but hopeful he turns out to be legit. There is enough history to give you pause but also enough to be hopeful about as well. I really want to see how he fills out his staff, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

I like it - can't say I love it but we will see. Interesting to see the DC.
