That is why it is a given that Dallas will be putting in claims today.
No, if he immediately went on IR then he could not return during the season. You are likely over complicating the spirit of the rule.
Either way, Romo didn't immediately go IR because we didn't need the space. Me, I'd keep him off. If we can get an extra game or two, great. We aren't deep from 45-53 anyway
Exactly, the NFL doesn't want a team to back date the IR stint into the pres-season and get around the 6 week No Practice Rule.....guys like KMoore and JThomas went right to the IR before the final cuts and they aren't eligible to return this yearNo, if he immediately went on IR then he could not return during the season.
There is a very distinct difference between going on IR on cut day and going on IR a day after cut day. I'm not overcomplicating anything.
I don't know why the NFL is so against having a player that is injured in training camp be eligible to return during the season. They can keep "stash" that player on IR but if he recovers more quickly than anticipated he can't play. They have to pay the player on IR anyway. IMO, if they recover they might as well be allowed to return without having to be released and go to another team.Exactly, the NFL doesn't want a team to back date the IR stint into the pres-season and get around the 6 week No Practice Rule.....guys like KMoore and JThomas went right to the IR before the final cuts and they aren't eligible to return this year
