What is the rule? At least twice Eli should have been flagged

Intentional Grounding of Forward Pass
  1. Intentional grounding of a forward pass is a foul: loss of down and 10 yards from previous spot if passer is in the field of play or loss of down at the spot of the foul if it occurs more than 10 yards behind the line or safety if passer is in his own end zone when ball is released.
  2. Intentional grounding will be called when a passer, facing an imminent loss of yardage due to pressure from the defense, throws a forward pass without a realistic chance of completion.
  3. Intentional grounding will not be called when a passer, while out of the pocket and facing an imminent loss of yardage, throws a pass that lands at or beyond the line of scrimmage, even if no offensive player(s) have a realistic chance to catch the ball (including if the ball lands out of bounds over the sideline or end line).

I don't recall both instances, but the one that I do recall was when he threw the ball to noone and it landed 5 yards in front of the line of scrimmage. Blatant miscall. That being said, I don't remember anyone from the Cowboys complaining about it either.

Exactly. I know he had at least one (I'm pretty sure it was two) that was well short of LOS, and another that, while he was in the pocket, was thrown to empty space.

seems like atleast once i wondered about the call. the spots in the game seemed to be where they struggled the most though and don't get me started about forward progress

I had the same thoughts and actually thought it was three times, but I didn't DVR the game to check. From my recollection, there was one pass that hit our defensive lineman.

If I recall another call he just heaved to no wheres land. Wasn't a receiver in picture

I will rewatch the game tonight and pay attention to the potential grounding plays, just for curiosity's sake.

I don't believe he should have. The plays that could have been called grounding were screens or dump-offs where Dallas read it and Eli threw it into the ground in the direction of the receiver. He was out of the pocket on the one he threw out of bounds.

The throws looked bad because he threw them down behind the line of scrimmage, but his receiving targets were at or near the line of scrimmage.

I think he had broken the pocket , and thats probably what the " three blind Mice" aka known as refs watched :):)

In any case I really like the way our DL chases the QB so they can't set up. Sure I'd like a sack, but seeing the QB have no chance for a completion is a plus compared to past years.

I thought there was one occasion during our game where Eli threw it short of the line of scrimmage, not positive though.
