Why are we suddenly getting interceptions now?? Against Super Bowl winning QBs too. The defense is still terrible but we're 3-1 and should be 4-0 because of the turnovers we're getting.

It's called cover 2...and sometimes the well worn "tampa 2". The Defense usually gives up a ton of yards, but turnovers are typically more frequent than in the perpetual man coverage that Wade used. He would isolate his corners to turn up pressure via blitzes.

Not only zone but, not bringing 15 guys on a predictable blitz every pass down.

Wade played his guys in Man Coverage way to much and would blitz in inside backer through one of the A-Gaps and opposing offenses keyed in on it and tore the D a new one.

This new zone coverage with a 3 man rush is giving the corners a chance to make the play on the ball because they are facing the QB alot more than trailing in man.

We are also putting up points on the other side of the ball........which makes teams take extra risk in trying to match us offensivly.

Yeah the zone is definitely helping. It's making QBs try to fit passes into some tighter windows and also WRs are a little more hesitant to catch passes knowing they might take a hit. If the front four ever got any pressure, Pasqualoni's D might actually be very good

I remember not that long ago everyone was whining the D did not play enough man coverage. No one like the way the CBs played so far off the WRs or playing zone so much.

After Wade took over he played the zone for a bit and then cut over to playing more man. Seemed to me Wade just did not know how to dial back the rush a bit and just play solid D.

I was thinking this very thing the ENTIRE game. Our pass rush is a joke right now. Definately needs to be a focal point this offseason.

It helps when A) we can get a lead and B) the other team throws the ball a billion times per game

Wade in 09 and in 10 were the same Ds. What really hurt was that the Nickel Backer was getting singled out too much so wade would have to dedicate Sensy to playing closer to the LOS which put whatever corner on his side on a island in single coverage. Bobby Carpenter did a solid job of covering and our Nickel D was good but this year Brooking and James suck at it. And to top it off Wade didn't trust Sean Lee either in that spot so he never got the chance to prove him wrong.

Wade's problem was that he kept trying to force the guys to play Man coverage and when they got exposed it caused the players to lose faith in their coordinator. You could see players hang their heads once Bradie called defenses after it was called in.
