The Cowboys threw the 2nd least number of passes in the 4th quarter last season. In the three previous seasons combined they threw the 9th most.

The Cowboys allowed the least number of 4th quarter sacks in 2014 with three. In the previous three years they were ranked in the middle with an average three times that number.

Interestingly, the quarterback with the highest 4th quarter rating last season was Brandon Weeden with 126.5.

In the 4th quarter Dez Bryant was ranked 3rd among WR's in the percentage of passes thrown to him that were caught. Only Bekham and Nelson were above.

The Cowboys were tied for 7th in running plays in the 4th quarter. In the previous three seasons combined they were tied for 2nd to last.

Tony Romo's all time 4th quarter rating is 102.0. In games #16 it is 88.3. In the playoffs it is 78.0.

In 2014, Romo's 4th quarter rating was 98.3. In the playoffs it was 112.0.

In 2014 the Cowboys averaged a 7.4 lead going into the 4th quarter. The previous three years combined they averaged slightly less than a point behind going into the 4th quarter.
 
We are learning how to finish games also we had leads going in the 4th quarter and other teams were playing catch up which allowed our defense to create turnovers from mistakes. I look to see more improvement this season in all phases

Most of these things are linked together.
Throw less when you have a lead in the 4th, so sacked less, and probably more efficient.

That final stat pretty much accounts for all the ones above it...
 
Play Romo for 3 quarters and put Weeden in the 4th quarter. Analytics.
