Jeremy Shockey has not played in a week 17 game yet.

That's 5 years and counting.

This is one of the most knicked up blow hards I have ever heard of. I thought that observation was pretty telling. The guy just can't stay healthy for the best of him. He's out for the final regular season game yet again v. the Skins.

It's not true, he played the Eagles in week 17 in 2002 a week before the Giants lost to the 49ers in the playoffs.

I'm not known for blazing statistical prowess around here. I'd have to dig deep to see which game he missed in 2002 and I don't know if I have enough energy for that. :

If I was hosting a professional radio, or even website for that matter - before I started posting statistics, or poking fun at players for one reason or another - I would hit the stat books 2-3 times to guarantee I was right.

I'd hate to be embarressed by posting/saying such foolish stuff.

Except their being paid for their opinions and entertainment value, not to be right.

Well, he wasn't stating an opinion. He was stating facts; and his facts were wrong.

I think you missd my point. There's no such thing as opinions in statistics; if you state the statistic correctly, you're correct. If you state it wrong, you're wrong. Duh. But, it would be absolutely embarressing to me to be paid to write quality articles, or to have my own radio show - but failing to do research, talking out of my ***, and making myself look like an ***. I usually don't say much about something unless I've done my research.

It just looks extremely sloppy for professionals to slip up like this on a daily basis.

I got your point, and you need to understand that our points are not mutually exclusive. Mine was that no matter what they say on these radio or TV shows, fact or opinion, they're not paid to be right. They're paid to entertain you. Believe it or not, the majority of males age 18-40 don't care if Shockey really didn't miss every week 17 game.
