Just wanted to pass along that on my way home from work the local radio guys in Phoenix were discussing the players on the bubble for the Cardinals.

i know that in most cases that would not really peak peoples interest, mine usually isn't either.

however there were 2 names that caught my attention.

they mentioned that Early Doucet was a guy that could get cut, mainly b/c of the other receivers in front of him on the roster.

they also mentioned Alan Branch (DT). i know there were people here that liked him coming out of college a couple years back.

i don't want people to think i'm petitioning the boys to grab these guys if they do get cut, but i thought they were two potentially interesting names that could hit the streets on saturday.

just wanted to pass it along and gauge the thoughts of the zoners.

really doubt doucet gets cut

They'd be crazy to cut Doucet. I'd take him over Ogletree.

Locked in:
Larry Fitzgerald
Anquan Boldin
Steve Breaston
Jerheme Urban

They will go with at least 5 WR's so pick one of these:
Early Doucet
Sean Morey
Onrea Jones
Lance Long

To me it's clear Doucet makes the Cards final 53.

that's what i would think also...but apparently they are quite happy with the special teams ability of Morey, and he's doing better as a WR now too....that's what i think is throwing a wrench in the logic

Doucet is another Skylar Green in my book LSu is such a system team - the look good while there but get to the pros

the only Lsu reciever I would want is Bowe

I rather have Ogletree

skyler green was brought in to be a return guy, not a WR.

maybe they have a great return system, but i don't think LSU does anything special with wideouts.

exactly the don't do nothing special with there WR cause they don't have any good ones

I know why Green was bought in

the reason why Russell was drafted so high is that he had Bowe

you Hanson Brothers - LOL loved that moive

Man we should've kept Urban over Stanback a couple years ago. Urban has really developed into a solid WR in Arizona. Thanks, Jerry. Stanback sucks.

The Cowboys already have possession wrs like Urban they need to develop some speed wrs.

Call Urban whatever you want but he's been productive. Last year the guy had over 30 catches, almost 500 yards receiving and 4 TD's on an offense with Fitzgerald, Boldin and Breaston. We made the wrong decision. Stanback has been a waste.

What possible value would Jerheme Urban have in our offense that would justify not taking the opportunity to develop a player the team thought had the potential to be a #1 WR? And what makes you think Jerry Jones made the decision to cut him, anyway?

Who ever said Stanbeck had the potential to be a #1 wr? They loved his athleticism, but they never said that Stanbeck had the potential to be a #1 that I recall. Urban, on the other hand was already a more polished wr when he came to Dallas from Seattle. He just got caught up in a numbers crunch with Seattle and then Dallas. He(Urban), has produced solid numbers wherever hes been. Hes just a solid wr. Stanbeck, not so much.

You don't draft a 4th round conversion project if you don't think he's got a shot to develop into something special. And if you do, you don't rave after the draft about how excited you are to see the player develop. Of course they were taking a shot at him developing into a special player. So far, he's crapped out, but that doesn't mean you don't take the shot.

Players of Urban's caliber are available right now on the FA WR market. If you've got four better guys who need reps on the roster already, you don't need to reserve your developmental WR spot for someone 'solid.' With Stanback's athleticism, had he developed the way Crayton did, we'd have had a young, stable TO on our hands.

Doucet has shown nothing sicne the drafted him...still, I doubt they give up on him that fast

No way I'd dump Ogletree for him though.

You have totally lost me in this thread.

Stanback isn't Crayton or anywhere close. Stanback is awful at WR.
We should have kept Urban because he could play. It was clear in pre-season and keeping potential over performance is goofy.

We could have used Urban both of the last 2 seasons. We had Austin and Hurd developing and didn't need another developing player in Stanback.

He was the player they liked in round 4 in a draft.. after that he has to beat out people, draft status is pointless.. just as it was with skyler green.

Urban is JAG. We have guys who are JAGS. They drafted Stanback thinking he could develop, because he did have intriguing physical talent and size. If you draft somebody you think you can develop and turn into something, and the last spot comes down to him and the JAG, its a no brainer decision.

Seriously, the guys almost 30 yrs old and has caught less than 70 passes in his CAREER, and some of you are acting like we cut Michael irvin or Jerry Rice in their primes.
