He's reportedly been less impressive than fellow rookie Abdul Hodge. Hawk's biggest problem is just learning the coverage schemes, which will come in time.

Does anyone have an update on Carpenter's progress?

If I remember, that was one of the knocks on Hawk's abiliites. Not much of a mental player, pure instincts, expected to get by with his raw physical talent.

Not like we can talk about Carpenter yet. He hasn't been poor, but fellas like Watkins, Hatcher, McQuistan and Fasano are getting more "wows!"

I remember one of the knocks on Hawk was that other LB's on the defense at times had to run over to him and get him in the proper position during the game. It doesn't mean he isn't talented, because he is, it just means he isn't likely to call adjustments on the defense...

I got jazzed about Carpenter when I watched the UT/OSU game last year. He was almost a one man team at times...

I think both will be very nice pros, I just would opt for the guy with more footall smarts and instinct...

AJ just got married to Brady Quinns sister, who if you watched the bowl between Ohio State and ND, was constantly shown on the TV as if viewers gave some sort of a damn. I have no proof, but I highly suspect she is a dude. My original post was more of a joke, anyway.

I will forever contend that if Carpenter stayed healthy last year, he wouldn't have been a Cowboy. Getting him at 18 when the Peckers got Hawk at 5 is a bargain.
