According to this, Fautanu, Morgan, Guyton and Barton are all there at 24. Fautanu projects more inside which means you could slide him to LG, Tyler can go back outside to LT. Barton also projects inside, possible as a C. Guyton and Morgan are pure OT prospects.

If you went Fautanu, you could even maybe got Tyron at LT, Fautanu at LG, not sure who is the C, Martin at RG and maybe Tyler at RT with Steele as the swing (his contract though, whew boy). Tyler goes back to LT when Tyron eventually gets nicked up. Or you just move on from Tyron right now and got Tyler, Fautanu, C, Martin, Steele.

I’ve mentioned this before but the Jones’ are the kings of overcorrections.

They were 50/50 on Mazi Smith/Matthew Bergeron. Mazi was a bust and Bergeron players really well for the Falcons.

Fautanu reminds me a lot of Bergeron. College tackle , thick build, good hands and good feet. He can play Tackle in a pinch but better projects at Guard.

I want the Oregon State Tackle but he will be gone by 24. I’m not as high as others on Arizona Tackle Jordan Morgan. The way it’s looking it could by Fautanu or Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton. If they are being stubborn about Tyler Smith sliding out to Tackle, and they usually are, Guyton would make more sense.

I am confused by that last sentence. You think they are being stubborn by keeping Tyler at LG?

Yes. Tyler has shown he can play at a high level at Left Tackle. I’m not loving him just to move him but if you are able to get a good Guard, the transition to Tackle should happen.

Assuming Tyron is done.

I am bit of the opposite. I don't mind a move to LT, but I think his ceiling is higher at LG. So I'd like to see a real LT prospect.

That being said, you take the best OL prospect you can at 24 and if that's Fautanu, then do it, and move Tyler. If it's the Oregon State kid at OT or the kid from BYU, then do it and leave Tyler at LG (or maybe you think about replacing Steele or making him the swing OT).

Regardless of what he was as a tackle, he was an All Pro guard this year. Why would you move him? Just draft a tackle.

What's the old Parcells saying....don't use two positions to replace one?

I don’t like the idea of moving him either…I think he can be an ok, serviceable LT but he’s an all pro LG.

Take an OT or C if you’re focused on OL.

I have seen Fantanau play at least five games this season. Superior feet and movement skills. Can get to to the second level and beyond. Plays to the whistle. I think he is highly unlikely to bust. I wouldnt be too quick to claim he has to move inside. I think a lot will come down to his height and arm length at the combine. He is listed at 6:4 and if he has at least 33 inch arms, I think he could play LT at least as good as Tyler in the NFL.

Assuming Tyler Smith stays at LG, would you rather draft a LT or C?

Also, would you be comfortable with Hoffman or Bass at C if you can't draft one?

In the first? LT for sure.

Assuming Biadasz is gone, their biggest needs are OT, OC, and WR (maybe edge, depending on how the rest of the offseason plays out). I think they should be leveraging picks to get another 2nd rounder to hit all 3 of those spots in the first 60 picks or so. If you're willing to do that, you can be a lot more flexible at 24.

Difficult to see them adding an extra 2nd without compromising future draft capital. Also, that would be a significant amount of resources poured into the OL.

So do it.

Fine. That's where you should spend a lot of your resources.

I think you could make an argument from keeping either Tyron or Tyler B and I’d be fine with either.

I don’t think you can let both walk and go into the draft saying we must draft an OT and C in the first 3 picks…that’s when we suck in the draft.

This is the first update that I have seen since the draft on Bergeron. Is it true, he’s a really good starter for the Falcons? If so, that makes last years pick so much worse.

Just me, but there's no way Jerry letting Tyron walk. He's a future HOFer still playing near an ALL-Pro level. He gets a new 2-3 year deal IMO.

I’m keeping Tyron at left tackle and find me a center that’s the weakest point on our line and I think it has a lot to do with our running game or should I say lack of

This should have been decided last year. They had the chance to take Bergeron instead of Mazi or Torrence instead of Schoonmaker in the second rd. They could have moved Tyler to LT, Tyron to RT and made Steele the swing. He wasn't ready after his knee surgery and it showed all year. Now they have to have the same debate again this year. And it's a much tougher year to decide where to spend their very limited resources because RB and WR still need to be upgraded and the defense obviously needs some major help.

Although I agree the 1st pick will most likely be spent on the OL, the fact is that the O-line played well for the most part and actually has some pretty good depth as it currently sits.
Tyler B is a FA and although not as good as Fred beard was, he wasn't bad by any stretch. There are very few teams in the NFL that he wouldn't start for at center. Bass, Hoffman and Asim Richards may be in play at C and LG. Plus y'all need to keep in mind that Steele will most likely be better a year removed from rehab. Edoga and Waletzko are decent back ups.
Not to mention that I don't think really JJ will let Tyron walk out the door if he can get him for a reasonable amount on a short 1-2 year deal. He's Dallas royalty and still playing at a very high level, so long as he's actually playing.
My point is that there are a lot of very good pieces on the O-line and while adding to them is never a bad thing, it does make things more complicated to figure out.
