Interesting Comment About DeMarco Murray From Jerry...

...I'm sorry if this has been discussed in another thread and I didn't see it, but as I've been reading the board I didn't see it mentioned.

There has been a lot of discussion about DeMarco and whether we should have taken the RB when we did. I happen to love the pick. I know the guy runs upright and needs to get better pad level, blah blah blah, but I've been wanting us for years to get more speed on offense and DeMarco brings that dimension to an offense. He can flat out fly (and he's been a highly productive) at the highest level of college football.

As for where we had him rated on our board, Jerry made an interesting comment late Friday night when he said, about DeMarco, that when we took him "he was the highest rated player on our board...(And then Jerry paused and threw this in for dramatic effect)...by a round".

I thought that was interesting.

Ugh. This is one of Jerry's favorite ploys: claiming that a guy he picked in the second or third round was a "first round talent" on their big board. In other words, "I'm a genius for seeing value in a kid that no other team did." Pulled the same stunt with Lee last year.

So does this mean a Choice trade could be in effect? I read on here a rumor, just wanted to know if anyone has heard anything.

I'll be surprised if he isn't traded.

Me too. It's obvious there is something about him that Garrett cannot stand anymore. It sounds like his attitude and performance on special teams has been a problem for a long time.

That surprises me because he seemed like such a tough, team oriented player when we drafted him.

Choice is very very close to Terrell Owens.

Top Ten things you'll never hear a GM say about their draft pick.

10. Yeah, he was a reach at that pick, but it really filled a need.
9. I don't really know what I was thinking about when I made THAT pick!
8. We probably could have traded back into the next round and still got him, but I didn't want to take that chance.
7. I personally think we got that pick in ON TIME....
6...

The best are yet to come... What would a GM never say?

lmao!

:laugh2:

So was Barber and Martellus Bennett.

We'll see what happens. But I think Choice is gone, and I personally couldn't care less.

It definitely is not a stunt, the board that was posted proved that we did indeed have Lee listed as a first round talent.... And never did Jerry say that Murray was a "first round talent", he just said they had him rated a round higher than we took him, we could have meant we had him as an early second round talent.....

Theebs got a shot of our draft board and you can see Murray in the second round. In fact, one spot below Leshoure. (On the big board, not just RBs.)

Whether that turns out to be a good grade or not, who knows.

Did he get more info on their board? I would love to see it posted if he did.

Here is some more info on it

Ok, no he’s not a female sprinter, and certainly not one who has failed a drug test and sent to prison. Although the sprinter part could’ve been a possibility at one point.

But DeMarco Murray – just watching some of his highlights today out of Oklahoma - he looks like the perfect cross between Felix Jones and Marion Barber. And there you have Marion Jones (yeah I know… pretty weak!)

For those of you who don’t understand why the Cowboys took a running back in the third round, first of all I think you have to realize the team viewed this position as a serious need. And the Cowboys probably aren’t counting on Tashard Choice to be the No. 2 back like most of us did.

Secondly, there isn’t a back on this team that has the type of playmaking skills like Murray. You can see Felix Jones had it coming out of Arkansas, and maybe for a few games as a rookie. But we haven’t seen it consistently. And who knows if we’ll ever see it.

All I know is that watching these highlights on Murray throughout his four-year career, he’s pretty amazing. His speed in the open field looks like Felix. His ability to finish off runs and even run over defenders in a violent fashion resembles the old Marion runner from a few years back.

Now I like the breakaway runs like the next guy. His “hurdle and burst” against Texas at the 1:12 mark is pretty amazing because he’s running away from pretty good athletes. But personally, my favorite runs on this clip, and the ones that I think translate better to the NFL game, come at the 3:10 mark. It’s a series of clips that really show his power and ability to finish off runs.

My favorite run of all is in his final game against UConn in the Fiesta Bowl. It’s at the 2:15 mark in the video, and in the final five minutes of so in the fourth quarter. Just the way he hits the hole, bounces out but cuts it back up and drags a few defenders that late in the game, it’s the type of run the good backs do in the NFL. They make a 2-yard run into a 11-yard run because they’ve got moves and strength. And if you occasionally take it 67 yards to the house – even better.

Ok, I know it’s college where they all look good. But seriously, watch this video (and enjoy the music) from YouTube and see what you think about the Murray pick. If you’re still not somewhat impressed, that’s fine. But at least try it out.

Anyone have a link to this? Somehow I missed it.

He doesn't post here anymore, and he didn't really want the photo making the rounds around the 'net.
