...I found this on another board. The poster didn't say if it was local radio or Sirius Radio, but he said Washington was interviewed with Chris Landry, the former scout. Washington's comments highlight the concerns many Cowboy fans have about Norv becoming HC.
**********************************************************
JW has known Norv since he was a coach with the LA Rams (when JW was also a Ram). Said that while Norv is a good offensive coordinator and playcaller...he doesn't think he has the communication nor leadership abilities to suceed as a HC. At least not in Big D...where the spotlight is on from day one. JW wondered how Turner would "right the ship" should things start to unravel a little bit (T.O.situation...losing streaks...bickering in the locker room).
Also said that he's not sure Norv is a good evaluator of personnel.

maybe we can get nate newton as an assistant coach to help?

i think it's safe to say any success the 'boys have in 2007 will be due to players across the board performing alot better than they did in 2006, for whatever reason.

JW is right on the money here. We should NOT hire Turner, he's a wimp.

I agree. Just compare him to Tom Landry. That Landry was a GREAT communicator. And talk about a rip snorter on the sidelines!! Man, he gave all those fiery pep talks before games and at halftime. That is what all his former players said about him. You know, how close they felt to him? They said it was the farthest thing from a business atmosphere, more like a boyscout meeting around a campfire. (sarcasm off)

Landry was organized, had a plan, worked the plan, and had great support from his owner. By the way, it took him a long time, and there were many who thought he should be fired when Murchison gave him that long, long extension.

Using Tom Landry, a 2 time SB winning HC, to make an argument in favor of Norv Turner is a stretch, at best.

Leadership doesn't mean that a man is a rah rah guy or a screamer.
Sure, Landry was not a rah rah guy, but Landry was the unquestioned leader of those Cowboy teams. You can't even compare that to what Norv has been as a HC.

Tom Landry is my all-time favorite coach. Period. I take him over any of them, including Lombardi, or anyone else you want to name. Norv Turner is no Tom Landry. Who doesn't know that?

My only point is to look at a guy externally and conclude he can't lead, especially when he has already led in SOME capacity is pretty silly.

That was my only point, that leaders come with a variety of personalities.

Norv is just an all-around bad hire

except for the media. They'd love it. In fact that's why they're all banging their drums to get him in here.

Give me something to believe Norv is a leader.

Do you recall the time we beat the Skins in Texas Stadium and the next day it was in all the papers about little Danny chewing Norv up one side and down the other in the tunnel outside the visitor's locker room? Can you IMAGINE an owner doing that to a HC with a strong personality like Landry, Jimmy, Shula, Parcells or even Belichik? From all accounts Norv just stood there and took a public humiliation.
