Jets | W. Johnson angry about coin toss
Mon, 15 Mar 2010 18:14:19 -0700

Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is angry about how the league office handled the coin toss between the Jets and New York Giants to determine who would open their new stadium. Johnson said, "When the issue of which team would be hosting the first regular season game could not be resolved on the merits, I suggested a coin toss as the fairest way to resolve this issue. The league rejected that idea. Then, I was told on Friday (March 12) that a coin toss had taken place at the league office and that the Jets had lost. We rejected a process in which neither team was present. The league departed from our time-honored tradition and declined the opportunity to set the matter straight with a transparent process."

I'm sorry but how can Roger let such a thing pass? For heavens sakes, a rep from both teams are present for even the coin flip to determine draft position. I'm sorry but again Roger takes the "fishy" approach to another NFL matter.

do the jets even contribute to the stadium? You cant even get funding to have your own stadium just get lost.

Are you joking? I can't tell. If you aren't then maybe you should go do your homework and leave the financing comments to the adults.

Any time there is a coin toss to decide an issue, someone representing both parties should be present.
Roger Goodell is a total wanker.

Perhaps you missed that this message appeared in the NFLZone of the site??

Would you like it, if something important was decided by a coin flip that no one got to see? Would you feel more confidence about the man in charge who thought that was a good decision?

Doesn't matter who did it...it's dumb. And unneeded. Just have the dang coin toss with team reps there.

What merits? That the Giants have been a part of the NFL since 1925 and has 6 championships. The Jets have been in existence since 1960 and has 1 championship. Or how about the Giants having a 54.7% winning percentage while the Jets have a 45.5% winning percentage. Were those merits not considered?

Goodell used to work for the Jets, the Jets get the first Monday night game of the season at the new stadium, the game the whole nation will pay attention to. Goodell screwed the Giants.
