The reasons why Foles wasn't the answer have been well documented.
As have this team's complete, total, utter failures with anything to do with backup quarterback.

Got this from the Spagnola article:
Spagnola: Let’s Not Overly Complicate This Backup Quarterback Situation
Yes, a fractured collarbone ..
A 37 year old quarterback that at best would be a one year backup for $4.35 million ...
Yea I hear ya. Damn that Moore. He should have gotten hurt earlier this off season.
Naw, if you had an established veteran already in camp that was your number two, while Moore was your three then if two gets hurt Moore steps into that position. Moore should never be your backup by choice, again they made this decision off of garbage time against Washington last year and that's not enough data.
Should have gotten a quality backup before then.Yea I hear ya. Damn that Moore. He should have gotten hurt earlier this off season.

That statement really holds water...as if two top shelf players are sought for every position on the roster. How come those aren't filled with quality as well?
What percentage of the total cap number already goes to the quarterback positional group, before adding a $3-4 Million dollar cap hit for this level of a backup?

Key word - signed. Not traded for, costing a valuable draft pick.
So, you consider Kellen Moore to be a "quality backup"?
The Cowboys traded a 4th round pick for Buerlein.
