Interesting Dez Article

Truth hurts buddy
Continually excuses for underperforming players means you're a fan of that player not of the team

You do realize you can do both right? And that the players comprise the team?

Except of course unless they support your position. Even Darren Woodson was on ESPN radio was saying Dez cant seperate or win the majority of jump balls anymore, but I am sure he has an agenda too.
Did you stop reading after the first sentence?

And if Dez can't win jump balls anymore what the heck did I see last week?

And Woodson does have an agenda. He's a talking head. Nuance is rarely appreciated in that field. You need to be provocative. Worked on you after all.

Its probably a combination. Bryant has lost half a step and Prescott has been playing poorly and has not been particularly accurate so far this season. Bryant will have to take a pay cut if he wants to stay in Dallas and Prescott needs to pick up his game.

My rule says Dak gets his three years.
Dez has had his.

If you can't see Dez is no longer a legit #1, try soccer it's easier to follow.
That said, we don't adapt to Dez strengths, but that's no shock.

Here's the best stat:
Teams quit doubling Dez and started doubling Beasley.....teams take away your best weapon.

No more stats needed. Take a pay cut or hit the road.

To bad you cant make that decision aye.. Stats dont tell the whole story

Why include 2015 in the analysis? I am really only interested in the percentage with Dak....... Not when he has Weeden and the like throwing to him the 8 games or so he played in 2015.

This article also tells me the coaching staff does a crap job getting him into situations where he can run with the ball after the catch.

Run more slants, crossing routes, etc.

another Dez thread, awesome...

....Dez sucks, blah, blah, blah....Dez was better with Romo, blah, blah, blah...Dez not playing like top 5 WR, blah, blah....Roger Goodell sucks, blah, blah, blah (whoopsie)

20th out of 116 NFL WRs? :lmao:

And this is defense of a WR who was paid like a top 5 WR?

It's actually pretty solid defense. He gets the lowest number of catchable passes but is in the top third in results. That is making chicken salad out of chicken poop.

Do I think Dez is overpaid? Yeah. So are a lot of players. FUnny, people get pissed when guys get the benefit of their situation, as if they wouldn't do the same if they had the chance.

Why is the OL getting a free pass .......after all, they've had some protection issues and understandably so with their adjustments.
Can't remember how many times while Romo was playing, I heard ....it's a team sport. Why does that change now?

Not getting pissed

Just pointing out the obvious and hoping to at some point have a FO that can make better football decisions and a fan base that can think for itself and not defend mediocrity

May be too much to ask

There are issues with both Prescott and Bryant.

According to the PFF article, Dez has seen catchable balls on 155 of his 260 targets over the last three seasons. This year is by far the highest percentage of catchable passes he's had.
2015 55.9% 38 of 68
2016 58.4% 52 of 89
2017 63.1% 65 of 103

Even so, 63.1% is still a low number. A good rate of catchable passes would be the equivalent of a high QB completion percentage, allowing for a few drops, which makes anything above 70% good, and above 75% Top 10 in the league. The 77.2% catchable rate on TWill's targets ranks 6th in the NFL among the top 50 targeted wide receivers, although his drop rate ranks 29th.

Top 10 Catchable Rate (Air Yards/Target)
1 Amendola NE 84.7% (7.8)
2 Tate Det 81.3% (6.6)
3 Ginn NO 81.1% (12.7)
4 Sanu Atl 79.2% (7.6)
5 Allen LAC 77.5% (9.3)
6 Williams Dal 77.2% (9.3)
7 Humphries TB 77.0% (6.2)
8 Kearse NYJ 76.1% (9.1)
9 Fitzgerald Ari 75.7% (8.5)
10 Hill KC 75.0% (12.0)

Most of those players get the majority of their targets from the slot position, which is why Air Yards per Target is listed. But only one WR (Ginn) averages deeper targets with a higher catchable rate than TWill. Dez's average target depth is 11.7 yards.

Catchable Passes
target 20+ yards (NFL average ≈ 40%)

Bryant 3 of 14
Butler 6 of 6
Williams 2 of 5
Beasley 0 of 1

target less than 20 yards
69.7% Bryant 62 of 89
80.7% Williams 42 of 52
70.5% Beasley 31 of 44
71.4% Butler 10 of 14

all targets
63.1% Bryant 65 of 103
77.2% Williams 44 of 57
68.9% Beasley 31 of 45
80.0% Butler 16 of 20

Of the 50 WR with the most catchable targets in 2017, Dez's drop rate ranks 46th.

Drops
46 Bryant Dal 65 catchable 7 drops 10.77%
47 Thomas Den 68 catchable 8 drops 11.76%
48 Lee Jac 59 catchable 8 drops 13.56%
49 Richardson Sea 43 catchable 6 drops 13.95%
50 Cooper Oak 52 catchable 10 drops 19.23%

Too. Many. Numbers.
Other Dallas WR get more than triple the number of catchable passes on deep targets that Dez, but combine for fewer deep targets than Dez.

Williams sees one of the highest rates of catchable passes of any of the league's WR, including many whose routes aren't as deep as his.

Bryant's drop rate is one of the worst in the NFL.

It's probably safe to say there is plenty of blame to go around, and that this includes the coaches.
