...that I now believe point strongly to Wade Phillips as our next HC.

I know that's not an original thought by me, :) but I did find it interesting that today Wade speaks to the media while at VR and goes on camera for all the local news stations, (which none of the others have done, to my knowledge), and then tonight we get the report from Ed Werder about San Fran making a big bid to keep Norv.

If Jerry has settled on Phillips then the SF story could be a face saving story for Norv since now it can be made to appear that Norv "decided" to stay in San Fran and not pursue the Cowboy job.

If those two are the choices to decide between, I think it is clear that Wade is the better choice.

wade makes perfect sense with jason calling the offense.

now let's get gibbs back as our defensive coordinator and we are are going to make a run at this damn thing.

I haven't seen Jason Garrett interviewed out on the patio at VR like Phillips was today. Did he appear on camera anywhere since he was hired?

Do you really believe if Jerry wanted Norv for his HC that he would wait until after the Senior bowl to talk to him. Come on, you know better than that.

i dont think anybody knows what dallas is about to do. but i dont think another 60 yr old coach is dallas' answer.

Oh, I'm not arguing with you on that point. I just believe after today Jerry is close to naming Phillips.

What, you think Norv's just gonna blow off his coaching duties at the Senior Bowl??

You might be reading the tea leaves right, you might not, but reading anything into the Boys waiting until Sunday to interview Norv is kinda silly...

For the record, I'd be on board with either choice, but if I had my 'druthers, I'd go with Norv... if the Boys are to be seriously successful in the next coupla years, Tony Romo will be the key to it... and Norv would be GREAT for Tony's learning curve in the NFL...

Of course, that still leaves us with the question of who's gonna run the defense, which would be Wade's forte... I'm not particularly excited at the thought of Todd Bowles as the defensive coordinator, but I reckon he'll do short-term... I don't see any of the "name" DCs being bandied about coming to Dallas to be anything other than a head coach...

i agree with this point of view. dallas could have ware and roy and problems on defense. but romo is the cowboys future. he's the focal point that dallas needs to build around. and to put him with norv and garrett would be just genius on jerrys part. not only that but norv's loves the run, imagine actually having a coach would would shore up this OL. and i think thats where u start with this team. romo and the OL. u run everythig off of what happens there

Im thinking that we sign Philips for 2 years or so and then let Garrett take our rains to the SB!! :)....Hopefully Wade lets his OC do the playcalling so we can see if JG actually has some talent...

I think Wade will be the head coach by Tuesday or Wednesday.

I hope it's Wade Phillips. Garrett can handle the offense and Phillips will get the most out of our defense which underachieved greatly imo.

I love Norv, but if we hire him what about the defense?

That's the only thing that scares me away from Phillips as well. But I guess if you keep in mind Garrett supposedly will be preparing/groomed to be the next HC, then it's not so bad to have an older experienced coach for a few years maybe.

Rationale for why Philips may be coach makes no sense...

He was the first to interview for the job other than the assistants, Norv's coming in today and I think Gibbs' Sunday...

Just because he speaks to the media doesn't mean anything...

Wade is a better choice than Norv.

Then again, gonhorrea is probably preferable to AIDS. I'd rather not have either.

Then again, we also have Gary Gibbs to choose from.

GARY GIBBS, YO!!!111!!111!

If we get Phillips then we also probably get Manusky....so that would be good.

I like the hiring of Phillips cause then we will finally get to see what it is like to have a defense that attacks instead of waiting to be attacked.

Our OL will be able to know how to pick up various blitzes and stunts...and why? cause our defense will be practicing blitzes and stunts against our OL....

No longer will our vanilla defense also be a detriment to our OL play....instead our pressure happy defense will be a strong ally to our OL.

Also, Wade is a strong character guy. He is able to adapt to various situations. His players play balls out for him.

He may not be the FAB choice...but IMO, he is the smartest choice for the direction of our team.

How many times does it have to be said on here. Teams can't hire away a coach to fill the same position on their team. Gibbs can't be hired as the DC because he is the DC in NO. He would have to become the HC.

I know, I don't understand why that's so hard to remember. The only way a coach can do it is if a team is willing to let the guy move and if the coach is any good it won't happen.

Doesn't the NFL require at least one minority candidate to be interviewed?
