I don't know how many of you saw this. It is an NFL.com piece by Dave Dameshek on Tony Romo following the Broncos game. It is intended to be humorous but it also has a serious side.

Regardless of whether you agree with him or not (there will be both sides on this forum), I have a serious question.

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A PIECE LIKE THIS DONE ON ANY OTHER QB IN THE LEAGUE, OR ANY OTHER TEAM BUT THE COWBOYS?

Whether it is hall of fame selections (I still don't understand how our 70's teams don't have more players in the hall), or stuff like this, there seems to be a definite double standard.

Never have watched his stuff so I have no clue if it has been done before.

I guess you could go through and watch all of his older clips to find out.

Chances are if it was not about Tony Romo you probably would not have watched it so maybe he has done similar things to other QBs and you just have missed it.

Will also add that we need a defense that can hold the opposing team from scoring or keeping the ball. Hard to go into the second half of games with a lead and mentality to control the clock by running when the opposing team is scoring a great deal. So we wind up going with the quick passing game to stay on top instead of being in a comfortable lead and running the ball and controlling the clock.

It is a video piece basically arguing that Romo is both great and awful in big moments. He argues that in the end the "Romopologists" are wrong. But to me it just seemed a bit over the top. Watch it and tell me what you think.

I guess I'm a Romopologist. I don't think you can choke unless you are the better team or favored to win. So I've seen Romo choke three or four times. I've seen Peyton choke 7 or 8 times but no one calls that what it was. I've seen Brady choke just as much.. Romo isn't a top tier QB but he firmly belongs in the second tier with other QBs like Ryan and Stafford.

It sums up my feelings, love to watch Tony, but there's no way he wins 3-4 playoff games in a row without a meltdown. I've known plenty of people who preform well, even great in their sport, but when the big light comes on it just goes away. That doesn't mean I do not cheer for him every game

I just think it is fine in the media to almost mock Cowboys star players while holding others in high esteem. Probably my blue and silver bleeding through, but it bugs me.

I've said it many times before, but here goes again. Romo has as many 4th quarter comebacks as anybody (our D has given many away after Romo engineered a "winning" drive. The only knock on him that sticks is the lack of playoff wins; Romo is the twenty game winning pitcher on a mediocre team. I've never understood the double standard: your even better if you are a good pitcher on a non-playoff baseball team, but worse if you are a good QB on a non-playoff football team.

Does he back up his opinion with any comparisons and/or statistical data?

meh it didn't bother me. it was over the top for entertainment purposes. romo isn't the only qb in the league getting criticized (see matt schaub) and yes believe it or not romo is not surrounded by the worst talent in the world.

He is a 2.7 ERA, 250 strikeout pitcher who is 14-10 each year on a 500 team. That's the reality from my perspective.

I haven't watched the piece and don't intend to, but to me the double standard is more about being a Dallas Cowboy than anything else. Regardless of accuracy, writers repeatedly choose Tony Romo as a whipping boy because he plays for both the most loved and most hated team in the League. That means page hits and papers sold, and that's the bottom line.

But it goes both ways.

If the Cowboys get hot and end up playing late in January, all the bashers will be writing about how spectacular Romo has always been.

So, it really doesn't matter what Romo does. He's QB1 of America's Team; good or bad, he sells.

I definitely would not be equating criticism of a guy who throws a pick-six in four straight games to criticism of a guy who went for 506, 5 TD's and 1 int in one game. But that's probably just me.

The truly ironic thing to me in all of this is how the media bashes Romo for his performance in the Denver game while making every excuse in the book for an 0-6 QB who leads the league with 15 picks. Now there's your (rhetorical) double standard.

I stopped watching when he said Romo was great for 57 minutes again against the Skins last year in week 17. Great is 20-37 for 218 yds? He tried to add another choke job in that one too and failed. Romo was just bad for that whole game.

Roomies a top tier. He just has footnotes next to his top tier position.

This was a typical video. There was a lot more bashing than anything else. The part that bothers me is when he brings up Brady. Come on already. How many times did his "DEFENSE" give the ball back to Brady with 3 minutes remaining? And that was after he threw an ill advised pick. I'm not saying that Brady isn't better than Romo, but come on already. They play in one of the weakest divisions over the past 10 plus years.

And it is not ok to Bash Eli because he has two rings? So we just dimiss that he is god awful this year and several years ago threw 25 picks? Come on!

To ignore that Romo has bad defense is stupid. Again, the video is stupid and follows along the same general media stuff when it comes to Romo. And yes, if Romo played for anyone else, they wouldn't be making a video.

I will never understand this.

Romo is a top tier QB. He's head and shoulders above Stafford, Ryan, Rivers, and all those other guys. He's not Brady, Manning, or Rodgers - who all have their flaws - but he's better than just about everyone else.
