Dallas’ record when he plays (36-15) and when he doesn’t (6-8).

found this in an article about the 2 Olinemen possibly returning this week

This team has been blessed with an inordinate amount of health, especially along the OL, for years. Kosier is a nice player, but he's not the type of talent whose loss should single handedly sabatoge your team. Other teams suffer injuries along the OL and find a way to make due. The Saints lost their left tackle for the year and they stuck in their former 4th round draft pick from Townson University and won a Superbowl. They were playing the Colts, who were starting Kyle DeVan since midseason because of injuries. DeVan was playing for the Boise Burn of Arena Football2 in 2008. We suffer one injury along the OL to a nice decent level starter and people act like there's a built in a excuse to fail.

Maybe it's the fact that he calls the line.

Kosier has been the most under rated offensive linemen on this team and alot fans have wanted him replaced since he got here, mostly because he's not some big name player, as if that makes a player. Other than free, he's was the only athletic guy on this line able to pull and get out for screens, which I think is a major problem with this line. Dallas needs more athletic linemen and not the big oversized straight ahead blockers

Which I could maybe buy if we had a young and inexperienced OL. But its scary when you have 4 starters on the OL in their 30's and have each been in the league for 10+ years, but only one guy has the mental acumen to accurately make line calls.

There's a caveat here that needs to be addressed as well. The Saints did win the Super Bowl with a back-up left tackle. They were also gift wrapped 5 turnovers in the NFC Championship game, and the opposition was driving when #6 occurred. Maybe it was less total TO's, I forget. Point is, the Saints benefitted to a large extent in that game in particular for fortuitous turnovers at the worst times by their opponents.

Yes the Saints won the Super Bowl with a back-up left tackle, but if there is one less Adrian Peterson fumble in the NFC Championship game we would be making the point that they only had one win in the post season with a back-up left tackle.

It's really neither here nor there, but it is worthy to note when a team trips over bad luck and ends up falling face down on a winning lottery ticket.

Perhaps.

But most of the games he missed were replaced by Corey Procter, who is just awful. At least Barron can run block, Procter couldn't do anything.

It would be interesting to see how much him calling the blocking effects the offense because we moved the ball decently, although a little below average by the offense's standards. But if that's a big issue, then they need to look at a quality center in the draft because of Gurode's age and liability.

Have you considered that Saints 4th round pick backup was pretty good?

We can't draft or develop a lineman to save our life. And we have guys on our line that couldn't play anywhere else.

Interesting sig pic. Going by past posts, have you considered dropping "2010" from it?

I saw Barron whiff on several run blocking assignments Sunday night ...

Our record without Kosier has to do with 2 things.

1) Romo was out and we lost 2 of 3 games in 2008 while Kosier was out at same time.

2) The drop off from Kosier to Holland isn't so bad. The drop off from Kosier to Proctor was like Flozell to Torrin Tucker.

I agree re: Kosier. But I saw BIGG pull and level someone in the Commanders game.

Bingo. He's the quarterback of the line. And he's a good interior lineman, so there two reasons why he's a key player for us. He's also quite underrated.

Amen.

I agree that Leonard vs. DBs is devastating.

Kosier is probably our best lineman. I expect Doug Free to replace him in that regard this season though.

Montrae Holland is underrated.
