Interesting Madden 09 ratings

Not listing all of them, just the ones that I found interesting for one reason or another.

Terence Newman - 95... finally getting SOME credit... 5th ranked cb in the game.

Anthony Henry - 88... not getting the love he deserves... tied for 5th in the league for most picks with 13 games, 10 games starting... he gets ranked 33rd in the game?

Mike Jenkins - 82... tied for 1st for best rookie corner in the game.

Canty and Spears are 84 and 82 respectively, and aren't even ranked in the top 40. People do know that we had a top 6 rush defense last year right? Jay Ratliff was given an 84. And Tank Johnson an 80.

At least our linebackers got love...
Ware is the best o-linebacker in the game... with a 98... Greg Ellis is the 19th with an 89
Zack thomas is the 8th best m-linebacker with a 94, and Bradie James is 21st overall with an 87

Our offensive line fared a bit better...

Adams - 94
Kosier - 89 (***)
Gurode - 94
Davis - 97
Colombo - 88 (I think he was cheated)

Witten is a 97 overall but was jobbed on his catch (85 cth, under many other tight ends), they definitely cheated him on his blocking. Bennett is an 80 overall.

Tony Romo ranked 5th overall in the game behind Brady, Manning, Palmer, and Roethislberger. He got jobbed on his awareness though, they gave him an 80. And Eli Manning an 88 awareness.. They did make him the fastest quarterback not named vince young in the top 20.

Marion Barber was ranked the 7th best running back in the game. And the best break tackler with a truck stick of 99. Although he was jobbed with his stiff arm of 95, when he clearly has the best stiff arm in the nfl.

After the first few madden updates, I think we'll have a pretty decent defense going for ourselves.

Too bad I only play Franchise mode where I draft my own players. But that Oline looks nice from the numbers you just posted.

i didnt say they should be ranked 99 in every category. But 80 awareness is subpar... and that defensive line which help produce a 6th ranked rush defense, is better than that 82-84 rating they were given. Which is normally the rating given a subpar, but solid starter, or backup player.

Witten is a beast who catches everything, and many tight ends were given better ratings on catching than him.

Pacman Jones better get a 90.

Overall ratings don't matter it's awareness the higher the awareness the better they player the more plays they make they cheaper the comp is on All Madden.

I havent got any of the past few Maddens. Are they progressing nicely, or is it same old, with slightly better graphics and updated rosters?

If Henry had more speed he be in the 90's.. he is just too slow to play CB against the speed guys. Hell even 4.7 Anquan Boldin ran by him.

Kosier us overrated and Columbo is about right... (everyone cant be in the 90's)

And if David Tyree doesnt catch that ball or Asante doesnt make that pick, Eli has 75 awareness... maybe

it's more or less the same they do very little to improve the actual game but rather add a few new gimmicks update the roster and improve the graphics ever so slightly. The game still plays more or less the same for the past 3 versions, same flaws, same money plays.
