This is an interesting mock. Both players are a little undersized but very quick.

http://www.draftinsider.net/blog/

1st round
Vic Beasley, DE/OLB, Clemson
6-2, 235

2nd round
George Uko, DT, USC
6-3, 275

This is what fascinates me about the various scouting/draft sites. Take these 2 players. I've seen Beasley anywhere from Mid-1st to Mid-2nd (because of size limitations). I've also seen Uko mostly going in the 3-4 Round area, yet they say 2nd. Hmmmmm................I will say when I've seen USC play, I see #90 in the backfield a LOT, but not making the sacks he did in the beginning of the year - very Almost Anthony Spencer of him. But, he could be a sleeper 3T, as could Kelcy Quarles from SC. Reminds of Nick Fairley in his violent tackling.

Beasley doesn't make sense unless they think he can be a good OLB, and I think you can get those guys later so taking him in the first just doesn't make sense.

Robert Mathis played DE in a Kiffin style defense. He was 6-2, 235 when drafted.

Chris Clemons, Seattle's Weak Side DE was 6-3, 236 when drafted.

I'm under the assumption that Ware is still going to be here, and I dont think this team is in a position to draft situational players in the first round.

Not to mention the fact that when Mathis and Freeney were the DTs for the Colts they couldn't stop the run at all.

You all know that when we are all feeling glum after another disappointing season, that Jerry will reel us all back in with a draft bonanza.

Get your popcorn, Johnny Football is coming....

Honestly, he would be an exciting pick in 2015 or 2016. Next year? Not so much.

We have enough undersized guys as it is.. Give me Hageman or Nix if we are going DL in round 1

I agree that bigger would be better; although, in Marinelli's DL scheme, the WDE does not play much run defense. They have him either crashing down the line or rushing wide on a majority of plays. It's rare to see the Cowboys' WDE even attempt to set a hard edge against the run.

I'm not 100% certain that Ware will be on the team next year. His base is 12.25M and his percentage of snaps has been dwindling. Even at the beginning of this season, he played less snaps than in past years and now it appears his snaps are down near 50%. I know Jerry loves players like Ware that have been superstars; however, I think he might be burned out on paying for past performance with the Ratliff debacle and the Spencer injury. The best thing would be to work out a pay cut similar to what they did with Doug Free, but I don't know if Ware would do it. At 32 and injured the past 2 seasons, I don't see any way that he would get 12.25M as a free agent. As a June 1st cut his dead-money hit would be 3.75M compared to the 16M hit if they keep him without restructuring his contract. Even with a restructure, the best it will be is about an 8M cap hit in 2014.

I dont disagree that I think he should be gone...but I doubt that he actually will

If that's the case, than a WDE early makes sense.
