Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert

Why you ask?

I know more then a few NFL Scouts who feel Gabbert is a legitimate top 5 pick with a solid showing at the Combine. I even spoke to one Bills scout who said that Gabbert is already a consensus #1 pick with a few teams he spoke to if Luck stays in school

For me, it's just another name to push Peterson down or add value to our pick for some other team

Good news. The more QB's worthy of a top 10 pick the better.

Good for us but wow, I'm not really high on him yet. He's got potential but he really needed another year IMO.

Why? So other teams can be set at that position for many years while we continue to sport an aging Tony Romo behind an aging o-line?

Best player available. If it is a QB then so be it. IMO, Romo is one subpar season away from being traded. Subpar meaning no Super Bowl.

Yeah, that's exactly why. We're not drafting a QB in the first this year. Because it would be stupid. And you're nuts about trading Romo. And about 'subpar' meaning 'no Superbowl.'

If there truly becomes quite a few good QB options for teams, they can think of it one of two ways.....either they will pick them early to make sure they get one or move down and wait to see who will fall to them. We have to hope they do the former and run to get them early.

This is the reason why the Cowboys will never be in the same league as teams like the Patriots with regards to personnel. The Cowboys coddle players and hold onto them, while the Patriots are more than happy to shove them out the door with draft picks to boot. They take risks and trust their evaluation of personnel. We take no risk and hold onto our players, while overpaying them, for 1 playoff win in 15 years.

If Romo doesn't get it done in 2011, it is time to show him the door. There is no loyalty in this business.

Interesting point of view. JJ has never been one to draft a players replacement before that player starts to break down, I think JJ has emotional attachments to really good players for too long that maybe he shouldn't.

Best available doesn't always mean you replace your franchise player this early in his career and it would be shocking for JJ to do this. But its not totally out of the question, and since there is a pretty good Hog that will be there, its also not out of the realm of possibility.

No it's not.

McShay has ranked this guy in his top 5 for the past 2 months. If Luck declares, there could be as many as 4 QBs taken in the top 10 picks.

Last night on TV they showed a Mock Draft with him going high to Arizona.

I've been high on him since last year from a physical ability standpoint.

I knew he was a better prospect than Chase Daniels from day 1.

Interesting. I don't think Carolina replaces Clausen with just anybody. I think Gabbert can go as high as #3 overall, but if Luck stays in school, I think Carolina goes with Clausen in 2011.

has all the tools that Alex Smith had when he came out except mobility. His problem will be making the transition from the spread offense that Mizzou runs to taking snaps under the center and reading defenses while dropping back.

Otherwise, he's just about everything you're looking for in a QB, physically speaking.

Yea, that's exactly it..

Woe is us because we have Romo.. We'll rue not trading him and picking up one of this future sure fire probowler/hall of famer superbowl winning QBs..

Where did McShay have Clausen ranked last year?

McShay is an idiot....plain and simple. I trust nothing he says. Just blah, blah, blah.

McShay actually had Clausen as a late first rounder with second round talent. But I agree, he's an idiot

I would be shocked if Luck does not declare. When you are slotted as the #1 overall pick, you have to enter the draft plain and simple!
