The Cowboys are moving Kyle Wilber to defensive end.
Wilber, a fourth-round pick last year, was expected to compete for one of the outside linebacker spots in the new 4-3 defense this year, but the Cowboys like his 6-foot-4, 246-pound frame better at end. Wilber racked up just five tackles in ten games as a rookie, playing just 16 snaps on defense.

Maybe targeting Sio Moore, Gerald Hodges, Sean Porter, etc.?

He's going to need to bulk up. Isn't his greatest asset his quickness? Seems like Wilbur really isn't much of a fit at this point any longer.

He'll only be in the 3rd down package and he's big enough for that.

Well that's not good. I wanted them to take a DE tonight...hope they don't think that DE is fine now because it is definitely not. We need to have three starting-caliber edge rushers like the Giants had during their SB run if Jerry really wants to imitate them. And to do so, you have to take the best prospects and not 4th round guys like Victor Butler/Brandon Williams

i guess if you only used him on passing downs. but seems like he would need to add 25 lbs or so. he does seem to have the frame to add some weight but at this point in the year not sure how he could add that much weight and not just be all fat

I doubt it...they probably feel like DE is fine. I didn't see any news of them bringing in many ends to visit but they did bring in a couple LBs

The Cowboys have aging DL and need to address that in the draft. Moving one guy over to a new position is not an answer. They must address OL and DL, no choice. Probably will have to for the next few years.

Didn't you hear? Jerry said our DL is a position of strength. :bang2:

Well at least we have guys to start at every position on the DL, more than we can say about LB or the secondary at the moment as we don't have a SLB or a safety yet.

Sure we can say what scrub we want there, but there is no definite starter at safety or SLB......and yes that is a huge problem.

It is true. It was the reasoning for not drafting DT Sharrif Floyd last night.

I had just thrown out a question the other day about Wilber's and Albright's position after the re-signing of Sims and the signing of Durant as a Free Agent. Both of them "look" like Defensive Ends.

The strength of ware and spencer is pass rush, so I wish our third de was more a run stopping sde to put in on base downs, that way spencer and ware would be fresh on passing downs. Having your 3rd de be a pass rush specialist forces ware and spencer to take their rest on 3rd downs and forces ware into sde snaps

Oh well, you work with what you have.

Wilber was 6-4, 249 at the combine. Weak-Side DEs in Kiffin's defense can be on the smallish side. Seattle's WDEs in 2012:

Chris Clemons 6'3, 254
Bruce Irvin 6'2-1/2, 248

At this point, I think the 3rd DE would be Crawford. If Ware was out, Spencer would probably move to Ware's spot with Crawford taking over for Spencer at Strong-Side DE.
