As it stands right now, it appears that Kellen Moore may be the only holdover from the prior coaching staff. Regardless, it is clear that 1. Jerry is letting McCarthy pick his own staff, 2. Jerry is “eating” some coaching contracts with nothing in return and 3. I am pretty sure this would not have been Jerry’s preference.

If you assume all three above are true, how pissed is Jerry going to be if 1. The Cowboys seem dysfunctional early on, 2. Coaches he let go on to have success elsewhere, and 3. It really was a players issue all along?

Does Jerry say I was right all along, I’m playing it my way from now on regardless what the fans think? Does Jerry have a pissed off meltdown?

Discuss.

Well I don’t think Jerry hired the right type of coach for what we needed anyways so he is already wrong as far as I’m concerned but he did the right thing by letting McCarthy hire his guys.

These former coaches had their chance here and didn’t get the job done. They should be gone.

It’s similar to Mike Zimmers time in Dallas. They all thought he was a good coach but at the end of the day our defenses were not reliable and he needed to go.

Jerry so far has let McCarthy do what he wants and that’s how it should be.

it's not always coaching but it is a little about coaching.
i'm not privy to what was goin' on in that locker-room...but i do know that team under achieved.
and with Jerry allowing McCarthy to pick his staff it under scores to me....
1.just how pissed he was
2.how much he likes or respects or both Mike McCarthy.
3.he must think like most of us...they under achieved and it wasn't all because of talent.

This thread doesn't really make any sense at all

If the Cowboys continue to lose..it won't be any different in any way as to what's transpired the last 30 years...will he be any more or less pissed? Who cares..the point would be, the franchise still wouldn't have figured out how to win

Just recently. How many peopleWanted Chris Richard. head coach. I for one knew you wasn’t ready. And now I wish we never had them. Even though he did teach the players how to handle off the receiver on the goal line

Special teams. How many times did we start inside our own 30 yard line. I’m hoping that’s the best coaching change. I’m not happy about the head coach. Only time is going to tell. I mean if he couldn’t win with the great Aaron Rodgers.

See I think it’s absolutely about coaching. The culture the scheme the entire package. But I think I get what you’re saying. Give me a bunch of football players and I win a championship. You can keep your pre-Madonna’s

I will be absolutely stunned if No#2 comes to pass............................And numbers #1 & #3 go hand-in-hand is how I see it ; with an almost entirely new coaching staff , we'll see if a different message resonates and player performance increases.............................

As a die-hard Cowboys fan, "interesting" isn't the word I'd use.

Jerry's 77 and I truly believe he's well aware of the great capabilities this team has. He knew Garrett had to go if he wishes to see another championship before the window of opportunity closed for good.

What type of coach do you think we needed and who do you think was available that was that type of coach.

The only credit I give Jason. It’s knowing you win this game in the pits He tried to build it right

I wanted some one culture orientated. Someone who could actually have a scheme And Acquire the players that fit that scheme. Someone who Could manipulate Jerry to let that happen

Jerry hired the right coach, this teams window isn’t big enough for a young College coach to learn on the job and get acclimated to the NFL.

Now, if Big Mac doesn’t deliver, I imagine the next hire will go young.

Eating those contracts is trivial money
Non of them got big money
The fact he did and allowed MM to bring in his guys is huge
Now he needs to work with MM on FA and the draft
That won’t mean MM picking the players but having substantial input
Then he needs to make it clear to the players that Mike is in charge
If you have an issue go see mike and don’t even bother trying to contract jerry
Jerry can do his show and toot his horn about the success of his plan

Manipulating jerry is really key and it seems mike sees that
You have to get him to do what you want and make him think it’s his idea

We needed a flashy big name hire.

Going conservative has gotten us no where with Jerry. Coaches from the college ranks have brought Superbowls to this franchise.

Also, the stat about a coach never winning a Super Bowl with another franchise is a big yikes for me.

The fact the Packers are the #2 seed after letting McCarthy go should not be overlooked either.

So I think the move was to hire the biggest flashiest name out there and if that means Meyer or Riley then I’d be all for it.

This was way too conservative.

There's a little of both give and take on both ends of owner and coach.

I absolutely think Moore was part of the deal to get the job for McCarthy. Moore was forced on JG, and he had to fire the coach he wanted in Linehan. Remember JG said Linehan was coming back. Then Stephen said the opposite. So you cant convince me that Moore wasnt forced on McCarthy. I think some leeway was probably given to him by Jerry in McCarthy will probably call the plays. And Moore can learn.

I really think Jerry also wanted Richard back too, but probably gave in to McCarthy here for taking Moore. As report came out that the Team was interested in bringing back Richard but McCarthy came out and said that nothing was in the works with Richard.

I think this is spot on. The coaching salaries are laughable to the Jones family. Drop in the bucket. If coaching salaries started counting towards the Cap he'd care.
