Interesting read on QBs from Bleeding Green Nation

Wow I thought Dak was A. Good stuff. I'm ready for the haters.

In fairness, some of the rankings are really questionable. Is Sam Bradford really better than Nick Foles? Yeah. No.

So there are some flaws in the analysis IMO. For example, should what Foles did in LA with Fisher count as much as what he did in Philly? Probably not.

What does that have to do with anything they compared apples to apples across 5 different QBs. Analytics is the way of the sports world now. Nick Foles and Wentz aren't that good. Philly had a phenomenal team last year. Now their defense isn't carrying them in terms of turnovers and scoring points.

I’m really surprised PFF uses passer rating. It’s such misleading stat, especially in today’s nfl.

Because it calls into question the validity of the analytics. He ranks all the QBs at the end of the article based on the stats and when you see the full list, it immediately calls into question if his method makes sense. On one hand, his analysis has guys like Brady and Brees and Wilson near the top, which I think all of us would agree seems logical and accurate.

But then are you also going to actually try to argue that Prescott and Cousins being ranked higher than Rodgers isn't weird? Would anyone really argue that right now, Cousins is better than Luck?

On the flip side, if you read the comments after this article, it's hilarious the hatred Eagles fans have for Prescott.

They honestly think he's the worst QB in the league. One guy screams about all Foles does is win and that's the most important factor and then rips Prescott, despite the fact that if wins is the best indicator, Prescott certainly isn't the worst QB.

It would be hilarious if the Cowboys went on a run here and Prescott played great and Foles spit the bit and they spend the offseason fighting over who to keep - Foles or Wentz.

You're surprised PFF used a misleading stat? They had Zeke graded as the 30th best RB.

The issue with that is it doesn’t factor in workload. I bet Tarik Cohen rated out way better, but Tarik Cohen can’t handle what Zeke is asked to do. That’s the big asterisk with that one

Zeke really struggled in the beginning of the season. If you watch the tape. He missed alot of running lanes and struggled to make ppl miss. PFF grades the RB on individual talent. Hitting the right holes, ability to get yards after contact, and ability to make tacklers miss.

But that is why pff is a good metric. It grades players on individual plays.

That’s only really relevant on a team with a rotation at every position. How good is Tarik Cohen after his 30th touch of the game? What if the Bears need 30 touches from him? Where is the metric on these things.

It’s a good metric for a play in a bubble, but it doesn’t translate very well to an actual football game.

PFF is totally subjective. It's pretty much one guy's opinion. Their analysis could never be replicated by peer review and is invalid.
