This is FAR from in depth but I found this interesting...
2010 Reg. Season...
Donte Whitner= 16 games-140 tackles-8.75 tackles per game...
Abram Elam=16-79-4.9
Gerald Sensabaugh=16-71-4.4
Brodney Poole=15-53-3.5
Danny McCray=5 games-16 tackles-4.4 per game....that is a projected 70.4 tackles over 16 games.....
Just found it interesting...
take it for what its worth...

did anybody watch some bills games last year? is whitner really that bad at pass coverage?

McCray gets most of his tackles in special teams coverage, not in the base defense.

The Bills were pretty bad as a whole.

I think our best bet is to bring in Abram Elam and re-sign Sensabaugh, and hope that the youngsters come along and keep gunning for Deunta Williams for next year.

The stats say he's that bad.

Opponents completed 70% of passes on him.

Sensabaugh is average but thinks he is really good.I dont really want us to give him a 5 year deal and see mediocre play for years to come.

McCray had only four tackles on defense. The other 18 were on special teams.

It seems I remember that Whitner was the only FS in the NFL that gave up more TDs then Ball did.

Yup....not sure what happend to the guy, he wasn't all that bad in his first year....but the regression has been staggering.

You got any stats to show who the best coverage safeties are, that are still available?
