David Akers - first year with Washington 0 for 2. Second year, first with Philly 50%.
Morten Anderson - first year with N.O. 2 of 5 for 40%.
Matt Bahr - 69%.
John Carney - Tampa Bay 40%.
Brad Daluiso - 3 teams: 3 of 7 for 43%.
Phil Dawson - Cleveland 67%.
Al Del Greco - Green Bay 68%.
Jason Elam - Denver 74%.
Donald Igwebuike - Tamp Bay 68%.
John Kasay - Seattle 62%.
Nick Lowery - Kansas City 72%.
Mark Mosely - Washington 54%.
Eddie Murray - Detroit 64%.
Rafael Septien - Dallas 64%.
Pete Stoyanovich - 73%.
Vinatieri - New England 75%.
Ray Wersching - San Fran 70%.
All of the above kickers would miss at least one or two out of every four FGs in their rookie campaigns.
The exceptions to the rule would be Gary Anderson, Steve Christie, Gramatica brothers, Jason Elam, Ali Haji Shiekh, Craig Hentrich, Ryan Longwell, Eddie Murray, Scott Norwood, Mike Vanderjagt and Jeff Wilkins.
Vanderjagt was a vet of the CFL by the time he headed down south and Wilkins is the only true rookie who came in and kicked an astounding 93% for San Fran in 1995.
Honestly, this is a limited sample set, but I've tried to show kickers from this league over the past three decades.
The numbers say it's a50/50 chance of even getting a kicker who will stay in the league even more than three years never mind getting a kicker who will get you an 80% conversion rate. More often than not you have to develop the kicker and go through some growing pains.
