First, dont misunderstand what i am asking or saying, just theorizing here. Jenn Engel was on, and yeah, i know some of you zoners dont care for her because she is a woman, but she said she talked to some scouts on cowboys that are pretty reliable and T O has had trouble getting off of the line of scrimmage lately.

Second, I love T O, dont misread that, Jason Witten is my favorite player on this team now, then T O close second, then Barber, as far as top 3 goes.

Anyway Jenn went on to say that the scouts said maybe due to T O's age, he might have trouble due to his age, etc, and maybe the Cowboys are looking towards Roy Williams as the primary number one receiver eventually.

Just posting what was said, and seeing what everyone thought.

Which granted, defenses have been doubling up on T O, so that explains some of it, but seeing what everyone thought. I think with roy williams now on one side and T O on other side, both can compliment each other, while helping out the running game, Witten and Crayton.

He IS 35-that's what I've been saying all along...outside of Owens, our other guys are nothing more than slot guys(very good ones, but only just THAT).

When your best WR is long in the tooth, you ARE going to have some long-term problems. So trading for Roy was an excellent move.

BTW-Mooch and Reid motioned him quite a bit when he was in SF/Philly, why isn't Garrett doing the same?

You are starting to say stupid things with every post.

Many do not like her because she has become worse than Galloway as far as trying to be a "Shock Jock" reporter.

Nothing to do with her being a woman.

Well now more than ever with R. Williams we NEED to start puting T.O. in motion keeping that press off of him.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out what the problem has been.

hes being pressed at the line and has been doubled over the top. Combined with the lack of him going in motion or moving around, teams are able to just mug him at the line and then have the coverage there in case someone misses.

TO is not the problem.

I would like to see those that don't like her because she is a woman. I liked her just fine before she became LBOH but then couldn't stand her. I don't like several male reporters either because they are using the same schtik.

Owens isn't getting off the line because DBs are up in his face because they know they have him double/triple teamed. Let's see how he starts getting off the line in a couple games.

That's why Lito Sheppard has had success pressing him at the line...that's b/c 95% of the time, Dawkins is helping him over the time. Same with that NE game last year-they showed all those clips where Lito was literally brutalizing Moss at the LOS, but they forgot to say how Dawkins was always helping him over the top.

Pt being that the next time we play them, I wonder if Lito is man enough to handle TO all by himself.

thats what i was thinking and thats why i put my second remark right after first one.

no team now can double T O, Witten and Roy Williams the WR at the same time, they have to choose their poison and live with it.

Kinda like the patriots last year, when they had moss, welker, their TE and stallworth, no one could stop them.

i dont see any team stopping T O now or Witten or Williams, you cant double team all 3 now.

T O has had trouble getting off of the line of scrimmage lately.

That's because teams have been playing a safety over the top of him, so cornerbacks know they can try to get a good jam on him and still have help even if they miss. If there's no safety over the top and Owens avoids the jam, the cornerback gets easily burned. If Roy E. helps pull that safety away from Owens, teams won't dare press him nearly as much.

TO's age is the poorest excuse.

Hes still bigger, stronger, and faster than the guy who lines up on him.

They are jamming him at the line. He is the 1st read usually.

So when he is jammed Romo sees that and he has to go somewhere else with the ball.

What screws teams now is they will have to stay in a lot of Cover 2 because the same way people play TO they will want to do with Roy Williams as well.

Thats when Witten comes into play.

Teams are just screwed thats all there is to it.

Yep. The corner who is on him is asked to just beat him around the best they can for 5 yards and throw off the timing of the route.

The guy who is actually covering him is a safety down field.

Oh but at age 34 it wasnt a concern?

Its gotta be because of the safety, I have a hard time believing that in less than 12 months TO lost the ability to get off the jam.

Owens is having trouble getting off the line because corners are selling out to hit him hard and mess up the timing. The reason they have been able to do that is because they don't have to worry as much about missing since teams are constantly shading extra coverage Owens' way. If the corner misses, then he has time to recover with a safety keeping Owens from burning them deep.

The ways to stop that IMO are 1) put Owens in motion more; 2) have Owens run more outs and possibly short crossing routes (although a linebacker is probably watching the middle against him) when he beats the jam instead of taking on the safety, too, and 3) get a receiver on the other side who can consistently beat single coverage, so the safety can't cheat toward Owens.
