The draft is over. No more guessing, no more mock drafts. We finally know the results. After all was said and done, the Cowboys ended up with 9 picks. But even though the draft had ended, the Cowboys weren’t done yet. Just hours after the final player was picked, the Cowboys signed over 20 undrafted rookie free agents, one of which was LSU Fullback J.C. Copeland.

Copeland was kind enough to give me a call and answer some questions while he was sitting in the airport, on his way to DFW. His flight was delayed due to bad weather, but J.C. was anxious to arrive at Valley Ranch and get to work with his new team.

“When Jerry called, I was relieved.” Copeland told me. “I finally knew where I was going to play, and I could focus on preparing myself and getting ready.”

While some undrafted players might feel bitter about not getting picked, Copeland isn’t one of them.

“I figured I wouldn’t be drafted because of my position, so I wasn’t too upset about it. It’s definitely motivation though, to show the world who I am and what I can do.”

I hope he makes the team. Last year I don't think we even had a fullback until we signed Clutts around halfway through the season.

Our True fullback and special teams performer, I'm looking forward on watching some short yardage plays with him running the ball.

Better than 50% chance he makes the team IMO.
