Ok, after the NY Giants Game 2, Phili Game 1, Washington Game 1, and now Green Bay - all incredibly important games for Dallas and the other teams in terms of playoff implications and NFC supremacy - that in each one of these games the other team seemed to be intimidated by this Dallas Cowboys team.
While not always dominant, Dallas, IMHO, appeared to me to be the "better" or "stronger" team. More talent, more depth, more POTENTIAL, even if they weren't winning every battle. Again the biggest danger tends to be beating ourselves with bad penalties or misopportune plays.
To me it looked like the players on the others teams as well as the coaching staffs are playing a bit scared against this years team. Particulary in their own houses. Dallas's wins in NY and in Phili, the crowds were taken out and the players of the other teams looked a bit shell shocked. We have the better rotation depth and hence conditioning to play at that hard level all game long. We rotate rb's, and dlines, and lber's and can even put multiple TE's and now even WR's out there. Everyone is contributing and it's starting to take it's toll on the other teams not only physically, but the psyche of the players AND coaches.
Green Bay seemed to have a bad game plan.
The net resut is, for the first time since the early and mid 1990's other teams (cept for those cocky Patriots) are respecting and getting a little scared of the Cowboys again. This is an advantage. Why, because this team is dictating games on both offense and defense unlike the prior 10 years or so, even under Parcells, where our team seemed to have to take what the other team dictated. Well we are calling the shots again, and our psychological edge is telling.
I love it! It's an edge. It leads to more swagger and confidence. It's a reason teams seem to be "lucky". Sometimes those 50%/50% plays just seem to go your way, when you've put "Karma" on your side. Even the refs aren't immune to it. You get the benefit of the doubt. And in a game of inches and miliseconds, that little edge is a big factor.
Our oline and Dlines are scary big and athletic for their size. The greatest thing is, that many of our players still are young and relatively inexperienced and have an upside yet.
Romo
Barber
Canty
Spears
Ware
Spencer
Burnett
Cricket Anderson
Fasano
Hatcher
Raitliff
Folk (can't do much better on FG's but I bet next year he kicks into endzone on kickoffs).
Witten isn't even old, but can't imagine how'd he'd get even better!
These guys in particular haven't had enough snaps to make me think they have peaked in terms of production. I've probably missed a few, particularly the young draft picks and WR's that show promise, but these guys are already relatively proven and can still learn and improve. I mean Romo is a much better QB than last year, and we still have 5 games left and hopefully some nice big game playoff experience for him and others to build on.
Intimidating to the rest of the league for sure! Now don't blow it by packaging all our draft picks for one guy. We have 3 top 70 picks lets keep building the young talent! We can't resign everyone, so we'll have holes to fill.
