Lifelong Cowboys fan...frustrated with what ought to be great season being destroyed by injuries and bad luck.

My father was born in Dallas in 1951 and was a boy when the Cowboys entered the league. His enthusiasm for the team stayed with him until he died. Even while (literally) on his deathbed, he was bemoaning the loss to the Commanders in the final game of the 2012 season, which took place while he was in the hospital deteriorating from the strokes that killed him just over a week later.

With that type of enthusiasm and dedication, it should be no surprise I was raised to be a Cowboys fan. I joke that he preferred that me and my siblings grow up to become moral people. He tried his best to raise us with a sense of ethics. But, the one thing he wouldn't tolerate was us NOT being Cowboys fans...

Anyway, I've trolled this site, a couple of others, and even the old Usenet board going all the way back to 1994. Thought it would be time to start consistently posting and participating.

Jump on in. The water is wet. The natives are restless, and the opinions are flying hot and heavy.

So, I can't seem to find out how I get posting privileges in the Fan Zone. Does your account have to be of a certain age? Do you have to have a certain amount of posting activity?

Are you talking about thread creation privs? If so, yes there's a small post threshhold before you can create threads.

That's what I mean...so, I'll just keep posting. Tried a few times in the last game thread. Maybe it just wasn't enough. I'll keep at it. I probably won't be a serious/frequent poster, but I've been meaning to stop lurking. I was an early Internet adopter back in the mid-90s and started with some Usenet boards (including the old alt.sports.football.pro.dallas-cowboys board) but have never been anything other than a lurker on any board I've ever read or used...well, if you don't count the occasional sporadic posts over the years. I want to know what its like to finally participate in an online forum consistently! I'll be patient...

Be careful. It's addicting. I lurked for a few months when I started back in the day. Now i can't stop.

There is no strict threshold. You must jump on one leg, rub your belly, and sing Nessum Dorma at the same time. Or if you prefer Un bel di if you are a soprano.
