I guess you have missed all the lawsuits that Apple has filed vs. Samsung saying Samsung has infringed on their layout on smartphones and what not. Even though there are previous models of Samsung phones that have that very same layout before the iPhone was ever introduced.

They're filing lawsuits over the iPad mini? I missed that too.

PS, almost literally everyone sues Samsung. Not just with respect to phones and not just Apple. They get sued over their TVs, microwaves, refrigerators, washing machines. Basically everything. The company has a long, long history of just copying designs and technology, repackaging it and selling the property. Turns out they can make enough money and litigate or settle with the intellectual property owner after the fact, if they even notice their tech has been copied.

You're just hearing about it now because people are reporting about it because it's over the iPhone and not a dishwasher.

Intellectual property can be a very complicated area of law. Unless you are an expert in the area, I wouldn't comment on it whether Apple or Samsung was in the right. The legal arguments aren't nearly as simple as the media portrays them.

This is intriguing to me. I think my wife would love something like this as it would more easily fit in a purse.

If they can get it in the $200-250 range, as reported, it would kill the Fire and Nook, particularly after they've gone through an iteration and can price older models in the $99 spot.

they said ipad 2 was innovative and all it did from the first one was add a camera and a dual core processor. Even the 3rd one isn't innovative.

Both 2 and 3 were innovative in multiple ways. If they weren't, there would actually be competition in the tablet market because other companies could make comparable products at comparable prices. They can't, so there isn't any competition.

The document covered 22 potential rebuttal witnesses the company might want to call after Samsung finishes presenting its case. With the jury out of the courtroom, Koh laid into Apple, asking why it would present such a lengthy document "when unless you're smoking crack you know these witnesses aren't going to be called!"

I haven't really followed any of this Apple/Samsung business. How different is it from Gibson suing Ibanez over the shape of a headstock on their guitars? From what I understand, Gibson won and Ibanez had to reshape the headstock.

I've got no idea, but any accessories you've purchased will be useless with any new Apple device. Apple needs to raise it's profits since it didn't meet expectations and Android is now 68% of the smartphone market. So, it changes the port so you have to buy all new Apple accessories. $$$$$

This is exactly why Apple refuses to use standard microUSB. So they can milk their customers for every nickel they can.
