I wanted to get a list of folks who are using the new iPhones from Apple. These phones have just launched here in Anchorage when ATT purchased Dobson (CellOne) a couple of months back. I will be picking up a new iPhone in the next week or 2 and wanted to see how folks liked using them.

A friend of mine purchased one last week and I spent the day just messing with it. I have to say that I am very surprised by all it can do. It is by far the best all around smartphone that Ive setup and used.

Let me know what you folks think? Thank you in advance.

Happy New Years everyone :D

I almost bought one when they first came out, but I'm glad I waited. They had numerous problems with the original releases...not to mention Apple's significant price drop a few months later would've ruffled my feathers a bit as well.

However, I have two friends that have bought them in the past six months that have been very pleased. I'll look at getting one sometime in the summer.

Thats a good idea buying this summer.

I may wait until summer. The G3 iPhone will be out in June from what I am hearing. Not much difference except the 16GB of space it will have. :p:

I got mine the first day (early adopter and evangelist for all things Apple from way back), and really love it. It's the 4GB model (I figured I'd save $100 since I knew I'd be replacing it in a year or so with whatever the next model was), and it still has plenty of room left.

I had phones previously that were capable of some of the things I can do with the iPhone, but didn't ever bother most of the time because the features were so irritating just to get to and use--even if all I wanted to know were movie times or checking in on my fantasy team. It has all the interface coolness and ease of use I expect from Apple and the tech stuff I use every day.

I haven't had an ounce of trouble with it, and I know 5 or 6 people who have them (for both business and personal use), and their experience has been pretty much the same. When the new model comes out, I'll probably buy that one and let my husband have the original to replace his RAZR (if it played Warcraft, he'd probably have one already).

Absolutely phenomenal. All of the hype was well deserved. Sometimes I surf and post on CZ from it. It might be worthwhile to wait for the G3 version, but the Edge version really isn't that slow. I've had G3 phones and the Edge iphone next to each and can't really tell too much of a difference (there is a difference though).

I'm planning buy two IPhones next month for my two daughters but I'll need to buy unlocked ones since my cellphone carrier is T-Mobile.

The only problem w/ the unlocked ones is that you can't update Itunes. If you update itunes on the PC and sync it then it updates the bios which writes over the hack.

Watch those hacked phones. They work. Buddy of mine has one but he has to set Itunes to never update.

Also - if that iPhone lockes up then you have to flash it to unlock it. When you flash it it will write over the hack. So you will be screwed cuz the new itunes versions of bios updates will not allow you to step down to the version you can hack.

I think there is a hack out now tho that will let you step down in versions.

Just be careful.

Gotcha, thanks for the heads up.

Yeah man I was about to get an unlocked one for T-Mobile also but I figured it would be cheaper for me to just break contract and go with ATT because if I buy an unlocked iPhone and it gets bricked I'm screwed so I am just switching services.

Got one a couple of weeks before the price drop. I loved it before the price drop, and I love it even more after getting a refund on the price drop. It is not perfect, but it does so many things so well, and the interface is far and away better than any other phone I've used, be it Blackberry, Motorola, Nokia or other.

i love sprint too much to switch back to cingular/att. I have 5 lines, and pay about $62 total for 700 anytime minutes, unlimited txts (on all phones), nights starting at 6pm, first incoming minute free, and power vision ultimate for $15. my school has a discount with sprint, plus, I live in Nashville, so I don't ever have to worry about interrupted service, and if there is a dropped call....that's .50 I get back. I usually get about $5 off in drop calls because each phone would call in twice each month to get credit for a drop call :)

ATT's plan is like 55$ for 500min / mo and unlimited data / mo. Do those plans w/ Sprint include unlimited data on all of those lines? WOW !! I wouldn't move either.

ATT roll-over minutes / mo. is sweet also

ATT network customers talk free to each other

I don't know any other benefits ATT might have.
