I'm fairly certain I heard and or read somewhere that players placed on IR are actually eligible for the 53 after 8 weeks.

Is that accurate and is that a recent change?

When was Lee placed on IR? I'm guessing it was sometime prior to week 8.

How's his rehab from surgery coming along? Was there/is there any possibility of a return for the post season?

Teams can only do it to one player I believe .. it's called IR Designated to Return or something like that. They have to specify that when they place the player on IR. They cannot just randomly pick one guy from the IR batch of IR players.

That said, if they thought that Sean Lee would be back and able to play before the end of the season, there is no way they would have IR'ed him.

I don't know about the IR rules but Lee is still on crutches, there's no chance he'd be ready for anything

That's too bad. I only ask because I believe I recall hearing how he'd be back in Feb for the off-season programs.

Well if that's true, perhaps a return in January isn't completely out of the questions.
