Sam Jackson made a cameo after the credits as Nick Fury in the first film setting up the existense of the Avengers. They're going to make an Avengers movie in the next few years so they're trying to intertwine the marvel universe movies a bit.

They crapped on Terrance Howard and recast Don Cheatle as Rhodes in the second.
