IMO, Michael Irvin would be a poor assistant coaching choice because he would be an extreme players' coach. He would take his receivers' side way too often and would lose the perspective necessary to coach as well as he should.

I also think we should hire Aikman as our QB coach, Emmitt (and Dorsett, if available) as our RB coach, and bring Rayfield Wright back to coach the OL. We'd be stacked. :laugh2:

idk, I think if he saw a player sloughing it in practice, or stopping on his routes in games, he would go ballistic

maybe not coaching anywhere else, but coaching here yeah

No one chided players more for slacking off in practice than Irvin. He was a fiery motivator. Probably the best the Cowboys have ever had.

i think Michael is busy and happy stirring the pot from afar.

All I know is that this team NEEDS a Michael Irvin. Probably not as a coach, but this team definitely needs a leader.

Right, cause no player ever became a decent coach. Glad Landry never shared your attitude.

I doubt he would want to be a coach. Clearly he has the knowledge but having the knowledge and putting in the hours are 2 different things.

Don't forget Deion as secondary coach :D

One guy I always thought would get into coaching was Darren Woodson but I understand a lot of guys who were former players understand the work involved and choose not to get into the coaching profession

I think it was in Madden 2005 I actually hired him as a ST coach then ended up as HC. :laugh1:

Joking aside I think if Woodson ever choose the profession he would be good at it.

Irvin could be an exception coach, but it's pretty safe to say he's considered that and decided to go into broadcasting. I'm sure Jerry would have given him a shot at coaching if he had wanted it previously.

I would like to see him brought back in in training camp like he was last year. He's probably got some tidbits he could share with a player like Roy Williams, and his attitude is infectious.

And that was, like, yesterday, right?

A far different era and personality. But ignore all that...
