"High" in this context basically translates to partially torn ligaments. No Randy Gregory jokes needed...
I think they like their current DL lineup as long as Maliek Collins healthy enough to play significant snaps. If Collins can't play or if Crawford was back at DE it would be different.
Crawford, Collins and Irving are all 3-techs. Marinelli super-loves Crawford who is back at DT after playing mostly DE last year. With Randy Gregory playing well and Collins being gimpy early in the season, they moved Crawford back to DT.
They only have 4 DTs active on game day. They put a significant extra focus on strong run defense this season including playing more "base" with 3 LBs than they have in several years. Having three 3-tech type DTs active would not be ideal for run defense.
