Is Akin done as a Cowboy? Is ILB now a priority in the draft?

I think Zach Thomas will be a rotational ILB on the team, and a leader in the locker room. Using him for about half the snaps will increase his longevity and keep him fresh for the post season.

What I'm most glad for in this deal, is that it is essentially only for one year. Undersized speed linebackers at the end of their career don't quite live up to expectations.

The only sensible reason to give him up is via trade. He has value and I have to think that we would listen to offers for any of our ILB not named Thomas or James.

If we could get like a mid rounder for him that would be ideal but if not then just keep him.

What would be the cap implications of cutting Terry Glenn and Akin Ayodele? Do you think these guys are going to be June cuts?
Cutting Glenn would add $1.74 million to the cap. Cutting Ayodele prior to June 1 would add $500k to the cap, and after June 1 would add $2 million to the cap (with $1 million in dead money in '09).

Also, cutting Jason Ferguson prior to June 1 would add $2.375 million to the cap and after June 1 would add $4 million to the cap (with $1.625 million in dead money in '09).

So, potentially those three moves would add $7.74 million to the cap in '08.
