This preseason our special teams has not been special.I am a little concerned about kickoff, punt coverage and kick returning. Those have been normally our strengths in the past.Maybe after some players get cut we might see some flashes. Am I the only one cercerned?

Not really we used many different players out there, once we hit the reg season and the roster is set the special teams will look much better than it did the other night

Our special teams are horrid right now. The punt unit has problems because McBriar boots the hell out of the ball and the coverage can't get down there in time...and the kick off unit...well, I will not go there.

Parcells said at the beginning of TC that he knows what his ST players from last year can do .. he was more concerned with learning what the backups and bubble players can do. We've been playing with a weak ST team on purpose so I wouldn't worry about it until it happens in the real games.

I think the coverage teams will be good once they settle on the final rosters. They have looked good except for a couple of returns in the Houston game.

The return game will probably continue to be just okay. I don't see them being spectacular at this point, but I guess things can change.

Exactly. One thing you run into with guys who are on the bubble and trying to make the team on special teams is they are trying to make the play on their own thus they do not carry out their assingments which leads to break downs on the coverage units.

Cortez should concern you. Everyone else should be great.

You nailed it. Some people don't have a clue.

Cortez has done a good job thus far, it is possible for players to improve especially kickers where it takes so little to be off the mark.

Good insight Reality.

Honestly from what I've seen this preseason I haven't been impressed. So maybe that's from us playing our second team ST unit against the other teams 1st team?

Two of the guys that sucked on ST were Bickerstaff and Condo...don't think we'll see them on ST once the season starts.

Keith Davis on STs has been money in the bank; now, we'll see. If Cortez becomes anything beyond serviceable, Ill be delighted. Still think the Cowboys will pull the trigger, trade, and get another kicker in before the opener.

He must be doing OK in camp since BP hasn't made any serious moves to replace him. Still, if there's something to be concerned about with our special teams, it's him.

Our ST wasn't that great last year, but it didn't really hurt us too bad. The only thing that concerns me is the return game, just no explosiveness.

Last preseason everyone was freaking out about the coverage units, and it ended up being the only good unit on the team.

I think we are seeing a drop off because we got rid of Avezzano. I think it was a mistake getting rid of Coach Joe.....Just my opinion though

I believe our ST coverage will be just fine once the season starts. Like others have said there are a lot of bubble guys who play ST in the preseason. Players like Berry-o should excel at ST coverage. :)
