I'm on there. I think I have one friend from this site.

Anyone who wants to add me, feel free. I go by my name "David Halkett" and I am the one in a pic with my son, wife and I, son and I are wearing Canadiens' jerseys, he's in a hockey helmet.

Would be interesting to see if any of you actually appear the way I envision you.

Well I appear as my avatar...minus the horns.:D

yea, i'm there but i seldom use it. it's great for finding people, but i've not seen many since college. i've gotten this far w/o knowing every minute of their day, i have every confidence i can continue w/o the:

"we're going to a movie with the kids!!!"
"damn it my car won't start"
"i'm having a really bad day..."

you can find me by using the link they let me take. i couldn't take renegadeiceberg or anything related directly to me, so my url ends in spookiedookie.

go figure.

Speaking of facebook.

I am not on Facebook, but I received an invite from a friend today. In the email invite at the bottom, it said, "Other people you may know on facebook" and a few of the pictures were people that I know.

It's odd that I am not on Facebook but the software somehow knows the people that I would know.

I am on facebook. I joined because a few of my friends wanted to get free points or whatever it is on Yoville, but, I do enjoy catching up with old friends and I have one Zoner that I am curently linked to.

My handle is Joey M. Rodriguez. I might try to link up to a few of you folks tonight after I put the kids down. If anyone else wants to divulge their handle, shoot me a PM. You can never have too many friends in or out of the Zone! :)

Chances are the people you know are also in your friends contacts.
I'm also pretty sure Facebook manages to get your contacts (address book) from the email you've provided them.

**** Facebook.

Friend of mine who works with online stuff all the time said he was reading an article about how Facebook could potentially take over Google as the default search engine. Said Facebook would allow for customized results based on the information you share with the site.

I hope it never happens.

That makes me feel better. I thought I was the only one not on it.

I might set up an account one day.

That's a process that you initiate when searching for people you may know that are already on FB. They can't access your email account without your permission.

That being said, <3 FB.

Google has an enormous marketshare of search revenue and other top search engines that have been around for quite some time have nothing on Google.

Even if Facebook were a search engine, which it is not - not even remotely, they would never compete with Google.

Didn't want to make it sound like they were. Wouldn't be hard for them to jump in if they wanted to.

And I think they could compete in the future. Not immediately but in the future. Think about searching for something and having the results most likely to interest "you" showing up.

I hope they don't but I wouldn't rule it out. The power of popularity can carry anything a long ways.

I know my wife mentioned some odd things concerning Facebook and her Yahoo account. Like Facebook contacting her contacts through her email and not directly from her.

It seems by default your info is theirs for the taking until you change your privacy settings. But I don't really check it all that much so I don't really know. Most of my info is BS anyway, just joking around.

What does <3 FB mean?
(Yes, I'm out of it in some respects.)

Nope.

I only have 2 contacts in my Outlook at work and those are consultants we work with and they were not on that Facebook email.

One guy that was on the 'Others you may know list' is someone I worked with at work but we weren't friends.
