Is Bill grooming Baker for Romo Part2

Imagine if Bill had us a QB for now and one for when he left.

He spoke of Matt being in the same position as Tony 4 years ago. He said Baker was bright and making progress.

I hope not. Only because I hope we don't need a QB change for 5+ years!

I just hope he can somehow develp into a decent backup or maybe 2-3 years down the road he could be used as trade bait.

If we had a Schabb (sp?) on our team and Romo our starting QB, I'd trade Schabb for best draft pick I could get--maybe a second rounder. I'm hoping Parcells developing Baker same way we did Romo. Since Romo only 26, at this point Baker could become his backup down the road or, better yet, like somebody already posted, could trade bait. It would be a riot if we could develop a QB every 2-3 years and then trade them for a first day pick until of course we need them down the road to start.

Sure hope we sign David Lee (is that the QB guy credited a lot with Romo's development?) to good contract. Obviously it wasn't Lee(?) who screwed up either Carter, Hutchinson or Hensen; sounds like all 3 didn't have what it takes either mentally or physically.

* He is a player at the quarterback position that show serious upside toward the future
* He has good size, with a nice sturdy build to him, he is an above average athlete with good mobility for the position, which allows him to extend passing plays for his receivers, that otherwise may not have been possible without his mobility
* He shows nice poise, and composure in the pocket under pressure, who has a quick release and tight spiral, with good foot placement when throwing the ball, with a willingness to stand strong in the pocket, and take the hit to complete passes
* With his mobility he becomes a dual threat to defenders as well, he may not run for significant yardage on scrambles, but he keeps defenses honest, and he throws well on the run, preferring to throw first, keeping his eyes down field for a possible completion
* Another aspect of his game that has me high on him is competitive attitude, despite being on a team with a losing record, that shows me he has the internal passion for the game I look for
* He needs to become a better decision maker with some of his throws, which have lead into unecessary interceptions, but with grooming and patience from the right pro team, his upside could be off the charts down the road

Sounds like it could be Romo.

why so he can draft more PR in the 4th round... or sign a Kicker to 3 million dollar contract... and cut them both!


anyone know the track record on the current QB coach? Tim Couch and David Carr to name a few without a google!!! wait a minute maybe we can have Vinny lose 12 games next year so BAKER can learn how to be a QB!!!


Parcells the HEAD COACH... makes Parcells the GM look good!!! Not too many other coaches have been able to do that!!!


How many guys are left from this years Free agent class? and do u include MeO as a guy he wanted?

Did Baker start in hos Senoir year ? Did he have good stats ? I don't follow College as much as some here do.

He started finally after Durant left UNC. He had a pretty good year, but was on a horrible Carolina team.

I find it ironic how everyone, myself included, thinks so highly of Calvin Johnson when he's coached by Chan Gailey.
