Is Cam Newton Getting ANY Coaching At All?

I'm watching the game the Panthers had with the Bears today and Newton's mechanics are beyond awful.

Not only is he often standing flat footed back there holding the ball, he's not stepping into his throws. I've watched him simply try to ARM the ball down the field about 10 times so far. It's a very awkward, sudden throwing motion where he doesn't use his body at all, he just whips the ball up and lets it fly.

QB coaches are supposed to keep an eye on these guys and spot these mechanical breakdowns and work on them. Does Newton just ignore the coaches or is he getting no coaching at all on this?

If he is as much of a primadonna as rumors let on he could have a dozen of the all time greats back their coaching him and he would not listen. Personally i think Rivera is gone when his contract is up and there is decent enough place for him to land.

Could never stand Newton and hope that every game he plays in some Defensive player takes his head clean off. He wanted to showboat and make DC and defenses look bad. Well,he has paid the price for that gamble.

What kind of offensive player doesn't want to make defenses look bad?

Remember a couple years ago when they beat the dog snot out of us and said something along the lines of "id ask the fans to do the wave but they all went home". Watching him fall back down to earth and then some has been mighty satisfying.

He's always thrown the ball that way. Tough to be too harsh on it as the release time is pretty good and he has tremendous velocity on the ball. Usually he's respectable with his accuracy, but his decision making gets him in more trouble than anything. It is terribly inefficient though which makes you wonder just how strong that arm would be if he had pretty good mechanics.

I guess I never noticed it before. The weird release just seems to stand out now more.

Seems as though Cam tossed in the towel. He's not the QB he used to be. Tossing 3 picks vs Eagles when they had the game in hand, then another loss. Stick a fork in ole Cam, he's done.

I just feel like Cam doesn't take coaching very well.

I could be wrong, as I don't know him personally, but watching him from a distance he seems like the kind of guy who actually thinks he's the best ever and doesn't need to listen to anyone. He knows it and does it better than everyone ever could.

Obviously he can't and IMO he never will.

Maybe Thomas Davis' wife is their new coach?

https://catcrave.com/2017/10/24/kelly-davis-reveals-injury-calls-carolina-panthers-changes-offense/

“I’m not trying to divide them [offense and defense] … If you’re throwing interceptions in practice. If you’re a receiver and you’re dropping balls in practice. If you’re not running the right routes in practice. Whatever is going on in practice, that’s what you’re going to get, so there needs to be some changing, not just on the play calling, but also on individual players and their jobs.”

I thought he might have re-injured his shoulder in that run the near end zone against Philly. His accuracy suffered even more after that play. Looked at a Panthers board to see if there was any discussion regarding that, but all the Cam related discussions either related to him walking out of the press conference today or the coaches/playcalling.

Oh I hadn't thought of that. He does get hit a lot the way he plays. I've just never seen him throw so many bad passes as he did in this game. Doesn't look like the same guy that led the Panthers to the Super Bowl. He had very good mechanics that season.
