Is Coleman a candidate for the backup running back?

Guys:

Does anyone know anything about the practice squad running back (Coleman)? If I remember correctly, he ran about a 4.5 and put up 27 BP at the combine, which is pretty good.

I think he was injured most of training camp (high ankle) and only played in a couple of preseason games. He did seem to have some wiggle, but I never heard anything more about him. I do remember Ireland saying he had hopes for him before training camp.

Did anyone see him play in college? From Hamption I think. Note: One reason I ask is we don't seem to be interested in any of the available free agent running backs.

I'll tie this in with Hos' thread and say that when Jerry said they might surprise everyone with what they did at RB, I wondered about Stanback being moved there in certain situations or Coleman.

I thought Coleman would have made the team last year, but he got hurt. Ireland really seemed to like him, as I recall. He was a big producer in college too. So I think he's got a great shot at being on the roster next year.

That's an interesting point.

I still think WR is a better place to utilize him.... but maybe there are plans for him to line up at multiple positions.

That would "wow" me.
