Is Costa practicing today or watching from the tub?

I'm not at all happy with the OL - mostly depth (or lack thereof). I know we had a new Center, but that had little to do with all those pre-snap penalties. And our OL depth really worriws me, particularly now with Costa injured. If I'm Jones I'm shopping Felix Jones for a Center in a trade. You never know if that pans out.

I heard a team offered the Cowboys this centerpiece for Felix:

What is the team's practice schedule like after a Wednesday game?

priority number one next year, draft a Center and a guard early in the draft

Hopefully one of the above, but not both early. We still have alot of other areas to address, and no need to overreact to the position.

We need youth and pedigree all over our D along with worrying about replacing maybe Spencer, Jenkins, and Felix......overreacting with a bunch of OL picks just plain won't happen.

Broaddus said they expect him to miss extended time. Cook is probably our starter from here on out. They're holding off on the possibility of putting Costa on IR until they get the MRI results back. If they bring in someone from outside the organization it's going to be a younger 2nd or 3rd year guy who can develop internally rather than an old washed up vet like Koppen. I'm guessing someone like Colin Baxter or Matt Tennant.

Player for player trades don't happen often in the NFL, particularly mid-season. It's usually a player for draft picks. And I don't know what we could get for Felix now. Plus, we don't know how good the backups are in pass protection. I have not been high on Costa at all and I think he's a pet cat that they'll be late to cutting ties with.

YR

If Costa is going to be out awhile, put him on IR, sign Montrae Holland to play guard, move Bernadeau to center...The quicker Costa is out of the picture permanently, the better....he's nothing more than an emergency backup at best!!

I thought there was a report the MRI didn't show anything... Maybe that was in the News Zone.

Yeah anyone who has injured their back, like me, knows that its no small injury especially when you have to play center in the NFL. When I injured mine, I couldn't imagine having to play in the NFL.

I think he will be out for a while, if this was just a muscular thing with all the therapy he gets, he would be fine by now. If its lower back and sciatic nerve related, we are talking big problems that maybe even an MRI might not show.

That's isn't going to work (well).

Bernadeau needs to take regular snaps at guard rather than try splitting his time between guard and center.

When I hurt my back, the MRI didn't show anything, but I could barely stand for more than 30 seconds at a time.

The back is a weird thing.

Yeah, I think they're looking for a potential disk issue.

A muscle strain is something else all together.

make holland the starter at guard as he was last year and have Bernie and Cook fight it out for starting center

I like Holland.

I'm just not sure the team would go there.

I think they're more likely to go with what was suggested in one of the first posts... a younger guy.

Yeah, I ended up getting injections in my back which took care of everything for me. The doc told me it works well for younger athletic guys, so maybe it could work for Costa (maybe one of the docs here will chime in).

Don't want to have to worry about some back fusion, there are alot of other options although right now we really don't know how serious Costa's injury is at this point.

Looks like we will have to wait and see, they have a week and a half to figure out the position, hopefully they get someone else in here for at least depth cause it could take a while with Costa.
