runs upright - one move - one cut runner - and plenty of speed

Jerry’s attempt at getting a D-Mac style runner

With out spending a fortune to get one

It appears to me that his style is perfectly suited for the role I think Dallas wants him to play, which is to be the third-down back.

On draws, you want to have a guy who can make one cut and go. Plus, his ability to pick up blitzes and his ability as a receiver out of the backfield (or even split out) are perfectly suited to that role.

So, no, I don't think drafting Murray was Jerry's attempt at getting a D-Mac style runner, I think it was Dallas' attempt to put a better threat in the third-down role than Choice.

(That's not a knock on Choice, who I think is more suited for a short-yardage, closer role and to provide some first- and second-down relief for Felix.)

so you see no comparisions in thier running styles

I think Jerry would have loved D MAC here just that the price was to high -

it would have cost us like it cost Atlanta to get Julio

So glad we did not get that one. Has had one good year and otherwise a bust.

I don't think that was the purpose of the pick. Whether or not Murray runs like McFadden is immaterial.

Dallas had him rated higher than he went and loved his all-around ability as a runner, receiver and blocker.

It would be like saying, if it had happened that Dallas drafted Mark Ingram in Jerry's attempt at getting an Emmitt Smith-type runner. The reality would have been that the Cowboys would have drafted Ingram because of his value and skills, not because of who he resembles.

Now, as far as comparing Murray's style to McFadden's, there do seem to be some similarities ... just as some people were comparing McFadden's style to Eric Dickerson's.

JMO, but I don't think that had anything to do with the Murray pick what so ever. It had a lot more to do with replacing MBIII.

He has always reminded me of McFadden.

I hope he's a rich man's Cowboy.:)

I wouldn't say he's a poor man's McFadden. McFadden has had one decent year? Possibly only 7/8 of a good season since coming into the league?

I agree Mamacita. Murray could bust out and become a household name. Who knows?
