Did you experiment with a new style of shoes a couple of days before a big race, or were you smarter than that? I’m not a ledge-jumper and I don’t want to overblown this, but it seems strange. Either he’s covering something up or he made a really bad decision that no professional should ever make.

I did *not* break them before a 10k that I ran ( blew the side out of my running shoes 3 days before the 10k. Reason I wasn't concerned was they were expensive and highly recommended running shoes (brooks) and I ended up with major shin splints from them afterwards. They just did not provide the support I needed. It happens.
