I wonder if the fact that Dak has a 2025 Dead Cap Hit of $40+ million makes it almost impossible to work out a team friendly contract with the Cowboys.
Normally a team would just have to extend him but that huge dead Cap hit makes it extremely difficult to come up with a deal that would be beneficial to the team.
That Dead Cap may be able to be absorbed in new Contract but on a 4 year deal that would mean a hit of $10 million on top of what he would be paid in a new Deal.
So if he gets a $58 to $60 mill per year avg, you have to add that extra $10 to each.
I know the #'s can me massaged to help the cap but it would make us more leveraged to Dak than ever for years to come..
Keep hoping.

You're assuming they leave this year untouched. Which they might. But if they give him a 4 year deal, it's not just those 4 years to spread out the extra 40M. It's all 5 years.

Yeah, it will be a 60+ million average. They'll have to use void years to lower that hit.

Dallas has been avoiding drafting a qb in the first round for so long, what 89 since Aikman? It’s just crazy that they have not bottomed out and somehow avoided top Qb prospects in 34 years.

There hasn't been a need to draft a QB in the first round since 2006. What would be the reason?

Hahaha.....last time I checked Dak was on the team.
Heads’s too deep in the sand to understand … cute deflection from the answer to your question.

1) Team with Dak = watching other teams in the CCG & SB at least 6 more years. Zero shot for Dallas.

2) Team without Dak = potential to watch the Cowboys in CCG 2-6 years from now or more.

Which team you rooting for? You’re a) too proud, stubborn, or dense to admit it’s #2 or b) care more about resigning Dak than the cowboys having a chance. In either case you’ve got Dak prioritized above the OVERALL team.

You sound like Jerry and fatboi slim shuffling deck chairs. I’m sure you were one of the ones crying about the not sign7ng fee against too … this is why … hilarious right?

.......The fact Dak expects to get paid more than Mahomes tells ya all you need to know. Don’t y’all stans find it ironic that ole Patty cares about trophies whereas Dak cares about the brotherhood? KC has flexibility to reload their roster on the fly as a result of Mohomes’ contract approach. It’s a mindset thing that starts with the QB and his approach to his contract. Factor in Dak needs far more help around him and his backwards mindset makes kicking the can down the road an even bigger problem if you ever want to do more than be happy with one and done. Brady did the same, both in NE and Tampa. Crazy how the 2 best in this generation couldn’t care less about the brotherhood.
Make no mistake though, Dak doesn’t really care bout the brotherhood either, that’s just him working y’all stans and the media to excuse himself for screwing the team and the fans to secure his bag.
Agree with ya BD, the so called brotherhood has nothing to do with Dak's exceeding greed, and THAT'S what it's all about, not the "brotherhood". The "Brotherhood" was just a convenient excuse to cover his tracks.

Just watch what happens.

You should get your frontal lope checked.
I think you meant lobe? Must’ve slipped shuffling them deck chairs. It all makes sense now. Why would I check my frontal lobe when math is processed in the parietal lobe?

I’ll be watching, and if Dak is extended I’ll be watching with much less enthusiasm. The entertainment will turn from a competitive football team to all the stans who cry about no free agent signings all while they can’t balance their own budgets.

Be sure to bookmark this so we can have an annual check in.

Teams are paying big money to guys who haven’t done anything like Trevor Lawrence, and complete busts like Sam Bradford, and JAGs like Kirk Cousins, and sexual predators like Desean Watson.

Of course a guy like Dak is “singable”.

Not at all. Everyone’s singable if it’s structured right. And that will remain true as long as revenue continues to grow
