Is Defensive Coordinator, Brian Stewart, our weakest link?

The better question is why are we spending all these draft picks and dollars on cover corner if we are going to play soft zones all the time.

Do you think Jacques Reeves would have made the play that Jenkins did the other night?

Well one is coming off an injury and just played his 1st game this year in Newman and Adam Jones was getting a bit burnt during the pre-season and committing PI enough to think he may still have some rust on him. It is early yet we will see as Newman gets healthier and Jones starts shaking off the rust if we start seeing more press coverage.

No, but I think eduncan22 would have created a video to show it was Henry's fault. ;)

Calling for Stew's head after two games? Wow! Just because they were planning on using more man coverage and blitzes doesn't always mean it'll pan out that way on gameday. It seems to me that Stewart's adjustments at the half worked because Philthy only scored once in the 2nd half. I'm not a fan of soft zone coverages either but I have to admit it was effective in keeping the Eagles out of the endzone. Besides, look at how we gashed Philthy up in the first half when they were hell-bent on blitzing Romo and playing man coverage! Let's see how they progress during the next few games before we start burning our defensive coaches in effigy!

That is reasonable I hope you are right.

I'm not trying to make any excuses only looking at the same fact the staff would be looking at as a reason of why you would play as much zone as we had. Heading into camp the talk from the Cowboys was that we would see a lot of man so what could have happened for them to have a change of plan? I think this is at least a reasonable explanation of why. Like many others I'm not that big of a fan of soft zones I think it is good to run a mixture of man and zone to keep QB's guessing but I would like to see more press coverage’s on defense. I would rather give a thought out reason instead of an emotional one that seem prevalent around here.

Originally, I thought Campo would be brought in for the coordinator job. I mean, he only had the #1 defense for 2 straight years, one in which Dallas won the Super Bowl (XXX). But that was a 4-3, and I guess the 3-4 is so different, a 4-3 coordinator can't coach it? I know the LBs and DLs have different roles in the 3-4 vs. the 4-3, but I didn't know it was such a different coaching style. We also have another former NFL coach, former championship winning coordinator who is a consultant on defense, don't we?
