Is Diggs done?

I know taking shots at Diggs is the popular thing around here but common sense gets inthe way of remembering this team trotting Bridges onto the field at times..

Would love to see Diggs come back and contribute

2:30 p.m. -- After Jerry Jones said earlier on Friday morning that he expects CB Trevon Diggs to return from injured reserve before Dallas' next game against the Lions, head coach Brian Schottenheimer said the team is expecting to open his 21-day practice window on Sunday.

"We'd love to start his clock and get him going. I'm excited to see Trevon and how he looks and moves around..." Schottenheimer said. "I think you should expect us to do that for Sunday."

Schottenheimer added that the Cowboys will be off on Friday and Saturday before returning to practice on Sunday.

I respect what Carson, Bridges and the nickel back kid our doing but Bland, Revel, and Diggs was always our dream cornerback scenario. Unfortunately we need him if Diggs is healthy.
and it's obvious that other defenders have been rejuvenated by what's happened... maybe it hits Diggs and he plays up to what he used to look like.

at worst he gives them decent depth.

Do we owe him the rest of his contract? Is there a chance he comes back this year?
We shall see since Jerry said he'll be back for Detroit. I know there are some on here who seem to prefer that he is done. I'd prefer that he got back to being the cornerback he was before his injuries. We need all the high-quality players we can get.

Yeah, it would be nice to see that trio on the field together if they are all healthy.

I have a feeling that we may get a look at Diggs against the lions. Has he learned anything YET from what has gone on regarding him this season? Is he finally ready to be a real teammate in every way? If he has he will play , probably next Thursday against the Lions. But if he hasn't,.....yeah,...he's done for this season.

As an aside.......No matter what happens the rest of the way this year good or bad with him,...this is his last year in Dallas. We have Bland, Carson is coming on, Revel on the field and playing reasonably well for a rook coming back from major injury, plus we have the draft and free agency in the off-season. No reason to keep him around. His replacement was drafted already in Revel.
But what would be the cap hit? Thats has to be asked.

Even if he turns it around somehow this year IMO he is still gone this off-season. Probably best for all parties involved.
I think the jury is still out. Because we played Bland, if Revel looks good and Diggs just looks so-so, then I think we move on because of cost. Of course, that means we have to at least get a quality nickel corner.

Frankly, if he plays well, I'd prefer to hold on to him and not be forced to bring in another corner or hope someone like Carson can be the third guy.

We save over $12 million against the cap to cut him. That's why he's probably gone no matter what. We could restructure his $14.5 million base or ask him to take a cut because of these two lost years, but he doesn't seem like the type of player who will do that. And I can't blame him to an extent. The Joneses have accused him of not doing a good job on his rehab and have fined him for rehabbing on his own.

No! Diggs contract was structured so they could easily get out of it after 2 or 3 seasons and heavily back loaded. His dead cap hit for next season will only be 5.6m. Also notice he was never restructured his contract for cap relief at any time. Either the plan is was to trade him like they did with Cooper or they knew about the cartilage damage that precipitated the chondral draft surgery was a ticking time bomb. With his base being 14.5 m next season and his dead cap only 5.6m it's almost guaranteed they'll move on!

I'll gladly get in the eat crow line but yes, I believe he is done.
At least with the Cowboys that is.

This feels like he's physically lesser but arguably not done and they're trying to avoid the liability of him getting back on the field and getting injured, requiring them to pay off another season on his contract or at least give an injury settlement.
Isn't that how it ended with Jaylon Smith?

I heard that Diggs was wanting to come back. I think I heard it from Fish.
