Is DT more important then Guard?

Some of the best mock drafters have us all taking a DT.

Rob Rang- Richardson
Kiper- S Williams
McShay- Richardson
Mayock- Star
Daniel Jermiah- Richardson

All these guys are pretty respected when it comes to mock drafts, no one gets it all right, we all know that but most believe a DT will fall in our lap.

Everyone has Chance and Coop gone by the time we pick, it just seems as teams would value a stud DT versus a guard. In all the drafts I can remember DT will always be the choice.

So my question to you do you buy or sell what everyone is predicting?

I am on the fence this year, but if Miami or SD move up to grab a tackle, Buffalo grabs a QB and Tennessee goes Defense, I am betting Chance or Cooper will be available. If none of those things happen, then DT it will be and if any of those 3 guys fall they would be great picks.

Jerry just doesn't need to be cute if one of these guys are there, pick em and do not look back.

Richardson is the 25 year old right?

I'd prefer NOT to draft a guy that old (didn't want Newman for the same reason), but if all the others I really like aren't there I guess I'd be ok with it. A trade down would be preferable though.

I think it is Williams who is the same age 25 as Newman when he came out.

I believe that the Cowboys with Garrett as HC are really focused on taking the Best Player Available.

Obviously, BPA takes into account position value. I don't know exactly how the Cowboys take position value into consideration, but DT almost always has higher position value than OG; however, IMO, Jonathan Cooper is a better Guard than Joeckel is an OT, but obviously Joeckel will be drafted higher due to position value. DT vs OG would be a similar situation.

It's unlikely to be a difficult choice based on the players in this draft. There are only 2 OGs that would be considered at #18 and only 3 DTs that they would consider picking over the 2 OGs. Of those 5, it is highly unlikely that at DT and OG would both be available at #18.

I agree with this, I think Fisher is a better OT and if Joeckel doesn't get picked #1, I don't think Jags, Raiders, or Eagles take him. I think Lane Johnson will fit Eagles offense better then Joeckel. It should be interesting.

I honestly think they would take Cooper or Womack if they are there, but the fall back is DT.

Since most of these mocks have Cooper and Womack gone by 18, no surprise they all have Dallas taking DT.

That is probably a 90% accurate prediction.

I think both Richardson and Sly Williams are 24-25 years old.

It just depends on how they have em graded but I suspect one of the top guards will be there, I'm just not convinced we take one at 18...

If Warmack or Cooper are there, you think we go a different direction? I think Jerry will have to run for cover if he passes on one of those guys.

Yeah I really do unless they have the highest grades and then they have to be convinced they can start right away and one of the two vets we brought in last year is done. I'm just not convinced they believe that, remember we had tons on injuries on the o-line and they are all expected to return...

I'm not saying I'm against drafting O-line in fact I'm tempted to spend 3-4 picks on o-line, I just don't believe the brain trust sees it like us fans..

Hope I'm wrong...

Richardson is 24 and so is Sly Williams. Both will be 24 for most or all of their rookie seasons.

Yep. I know Richardson was born 1/1/89. He took a 30 month detour before getting to Mizzou.

With the Cowboys, I think that DT is a more pressing need for the future...For the immediate, it would be great to get Cooper or Warmack...but, the DL is aging, and fast (all over 30 and Spencer is closing on on 30)

Ok so, Richardson or Star over Warmack? Guards over Sly Williams? Cooper over Richardson?

Does that sound about right?

Where is Brandon Williams expected to get drafted? Mid 2nd? Early 3rd?
